Personally, I'm fine with gun ownership. For sport, or for protection. But I think that there are certain weapons that are unreasonable for civilians to own. I think that there should be strict qualifications for purchasing and owning a gun.
Criminals are going to get their hands on weapons...
Tear gas, a bulletproof vest, a rifle, a shotgun, and a few handguns says otherwise. This guy was armed to the teeth, prepared, and had the element of surprise. Some average Joe with a side holster wouldn't have made a lick of difference.
Seems a bit like cutting off your nose to spite your face, to be honest.
"I'd rather kill you and nuke the world than see you nuke the world."
It's like if Luke killed the Emperor, but then the Death Star destroyed the Rebel Base anyways, BECAUSE the Emperor was that only one who could stop...

I'll admit I haven't actually read the whole bill through, but I trust that Google, Facebook, Twitter, and the litany of other tech experts (and their lawyers) who are objecting to the bill have read it.
Even if OP is right, and there isn't any honest-to-God apocalypse clause in the bill...
