Canadian jokes aside, this irks me just a tad... It's not that Canada is finally getting some recognition from DC comics (though I think Marvel did it first with the Spider-Man visits Canada mini-series) but the simple fact that DC comics heroes are all American. This may seem really petty, but...
I feel the need to weigh in here a little bit.
RPGs developed by any developers that aren't Japanese (a generalization) tend to be somewhat less focused around the main character (There are some exceptions, see KOTOR and Mass Effect) but use the main character as a framing device to advance...
I'd like to point out that the ones who made this decision are Nintendo of America, not Nintendo JP. NoA has a tendency to fall into that group of idiotic western publisher mindset (see operation rainfall etc.)
You know Jim, I used to not like you when you got started.
Now I've been following you through this whole XBone thing. Thanks for showing the people who didn't get it, why they should be pissed (though there were no shortage of angry people) I mean that in earnest, I misjudged you, and I feel...
What's wrong with having a decent action RPG with the amazing storytelling elements from the JRPGs that we love mixed with good gameplay? If that's what square is trying to do, why should we whine about that?
I hear a lot of people complain that JRPG turn-based combat is what keeps them away...

Am I the only one who thinks that "Shroud of the Avatar" sounds almost like a synonym to "Shadow of the Colossus"? (in your definition of Avatar is a large legendary being) Also, the concept art in this article looks pretty similar to the Shadow of the colossus box art...
hmmmm.... Lord...
Honestly, I'd be more inclined to play some of the more generic game if they had a main villain who had a moustache and twirled it! It's all about faceless generic looking people and nukes.
I have no problem with this concept. It sounds like a blast, what I do have a problem with is that this isn't Assassin's creed anymore. This is a pirate game. Why does this need the assassin's creed label? Why have we now gone back in time? What does this have to do with Desmond?
Ubisoft...
Actually, I think we need more games like the one represented in a comic. I can't remember the last time the "evil thing" was a giant tentacle monster and not some terrorist group or a an oversized humanoid commanded by a james bond villain holding the protagonists girlfriend over a pit of acid...
