    Achievement Unlocked

I think archievements are a nice addition to games, but not really necessary. I'm starting to play Mass Effect for a second time, and i don't feel like i should be shooting for archievements like certain weapon masteries and so forth, just because i don't have them. However, i really DO...

    Game with the best music

Hmm, there are many games with great soundtracks, but surprisingly not so much of them use the music to full extent. For example, while Halo always had a fantastic Soundtrack, i never felt it is used in a good way outside of the cutscenes. That said, the Shadow of the Colossus Soundtrack...

    Parents, Gaming and Unspoken Fears

I agree on both Adam and Bongo Bill. Great Posts. I especially think Bill's Point about the "Newfangled videowhatsis" is the source of the hostile attitude of some parents to Videogames. Rather strange, if you think about it. I mean, if you would tell those people about how your child...

Gaming Immersion: What really adds to it

So this week i re-installed two games. First up was Deus Ex 2. Although i was worried about what Fans had to say about this sequel (i only played DX1 thus far)i just wanted a game with that certain science fiction/cyberpunk mood. Maybe the Game ain't that bad, but after about an hour playtime...

By what sign will we know (video) gaming is mainstream and 'normal'?

Well, the thing is, i believe it does gain less attention because of it's popularity, but because it is an easy scapegoat. I should've mentioned that in Germany, there were a few school massacres in the last years and additionally, the crime rate among youths has risen (or gained more attention...

By what sign will we know (video) gaming is mainstream and 'normal'?

As a german gamer, it is relatively easy to tell: When Public Broadcasting Television stops bragging how "Killergames" (roughly translated) make kids dumb, agressive and turns them into potential Mass Murderers. Oh yeah, and when politicians stop comparing Games to Child Pornography.
