Escape to the Movies: Green Lantern

Damn Bob, tell us how you really feel. It's a shame. I had hopes for Green Lantern, even through the casting announcements and the gimmicky costume nonsense. Oh well, at least there's Thor and (hopefully) Captain America to balance things out.

Escape to the Movies: X-Men: First Class

Thought it was good, but not great, certainly not Dark Knight-tier. Found the tone and narrative to be really rushed and unfocused in the first half, but things improved vastly when it tightened up in the second. The villains of the Hellfire Club were a real weak point. I still have no idea...

Escape to the Movies: Four Lions

Saw this back in April when premiered in the UK. It's still easily the funniest movie I've seen all year. Thanks for reviewing something a little more obscure/foreign, Bob.

    One sentence in your language

"C'est ma voiture rouge." Just imagine it with a really obnoxious québécoise accent.

    Trailers: BioShock Infinite Gameplay

That bit where he catches the artillery shell mid-air and fires it back? I literally screamed, "Holy shit" at my computer.

GayGamer.net has a lot to answer for

While it could be argued that the writer for GayGamer.net overreacted, the fact that this guy is using "gay" as a pejorative term is equally offensive. Anyone who doesn't understand why, may I direct you to Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgSD7jb-7x4

Zero Punctuation: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

Yahtzee, you do know that Arabs and Persians are not the same thing right? I mean it's right there in the fucking title, man.

Escape to the Movies: Prince of Persia

So it doesn't suck? Well that's nice to know, I might go see when I have a free minute. And agreed, it would've been nice to see some middle-eastern actors in the main roles, but I doubt it'll be too distracting. It's not exactly a character-orientated flim.

Escape to the Movies: Shrek For Ever After

It's a shame, I LOVED Dreamworks back when they were still doing 2D stuff (Road to El Dorado, Prince of Egypt), but they've never managed to work the same magic with CGI (their best effort so far being How to Train Your Dragon, which was good, but not great).

Escape to the Movies: A Nightmare on Elm Street

Aw dang, here I was holding out hope that it would be good.

    Favorite Movie

There's no way I could possibly narrow down my favourites to one. So, my list, again in no particular order: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Children of Men Fight Club Princess Mononoke In Bruges Pan's Labyrinth End of Evangelion Iron Man Serenity I Am Legend I'll end it there, 'cause I...

When was the last time you cried and/or teared up during a video game?

I second Rusk; never full-blown wept, but the entire end scene of Shadow of the Colossus (plus Argo plummeting to his untimely doom) certainly had my face looking like D:

    BioShock Coming to PlayStation 3

Wasn't really a problem of technical specs; I play all my PC games on a laptop (only computer I have), so it can turn bad sometimes if things get heavy but mostly BioShock ran fine. But I bought it on PC because it wasn't on PS3 and everyone and their mum was telling me I had to play it. I...

Olympic President Calls Videogames "Screen Tyranny"

I'm not quite sure what he's larking on about. On campus it's the most common thing in the world for a group of guys to play a couple rounds of Halo/Counterstrike/what have you after coming in off the rugby pitch. Sure, these people aren't really what I'd label "gamers", but they certainly not...
