So I just got expelled for smelling a girl's hair, or the Quirkyness of The Escapist Community.

Why do you hate the Skynet scenario? I'm not saying that it will necessarily be our future, but don't you think that it's okay to ask if AIs would try to take over and what we can do to stop them?

Kim Jung Il Left Out of Japanese Homefront

"A Certain Western Superpower?" Sounds like some kind of anime. That country probably has railguns. :) Also, what exactly are the CERO guidelines depicting living people and real countries?

    Telepresence and you

I'm not talking about gaming; I'm talking about real life. Any force feedback need not be painful; just a sharp jolt or bump. I didn't think about that. Good point -- an exercise regimen would certainly be necessary.

    Telepresence and you

With the rise of "Surrogates," if you will. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106976-Hacker-Preparing-Kinect-Controlled-Robot-Army] Obvious applications are doing work which requires you to actually be there -- manufacturing, some forms of office work, repair work, etc. However...

    Hacker Preparing Kinect-Controlled Robot Army

You mean like Angelic Layer? [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelic_Layer] Now that I think about it, that comic seemed oddly prescient. :) EDIT: I had typed "Anglic Layer" earlier. Robotic representations of ancient Saxon warriors fighting each other?

    287: Can't Catch 'em All

I'm pretty sure that Pokémon Black and White aren't helping matters any. Also, I had caught them all once on my Gold and Silver versions, though I did use a GameShark to get Mew, Celebi, and the starters.

    287: Second-Hand Elf

Agreed. If I seek a fantastic story, similarity to LOTR turns me off too, though I am a big fan of Fire Emblem (I like that series in spite of it's setting, not because of it -- mostly because it uses monsters sparingly.)

    287: Can't Catch 'em All

Kids still play Pokémon? I thought the game went out of style ages ago.

The odd thing is that your proof is correct.

283: Introducing The Escapist's Genre Wheel

In that case, I'd place Sakura Wars under SE, since your strength in the combat sections depends on how you behave during the adventure sections, and the adventure sections themselves take up a large part of the gameplay. However, the final levels of the game are loaded with battles, whereas...

    Anime Review: Full Metal Panic

I watched all three series and found them all quite enjoyable. Both Sousuke's overreactions to civilian life and his battles in the mecha entertained me.

283: Introducing The Escapist's Genre Wheel

I like it; it looks like it would be a valuable tool for determining a game's genre. Oddly enough, the game Sakura Wars occupies two spaces on the wheel: SC (turn-based strategy) and SE (adventure). Can we just place it under the broad umbrella of "strategy?" Nah, that'd be too general.

Why the Book Is Always Better

Here's why the book is always better if it came first: the book had more time. Films are the visual equivalent of short stories, not novels. They have to stick with a few characters and focus on mostly one conflict (longer films can handle more, but not by much.) Films seem so much less...
