Game of Thrones Abridged: Game of Thrones Abridged - Teaser Trailer

I am so excited for this! Huge fan of the show, huge fan of hilarious mock abridgements, and generally a fan of comedic takes on pop culture and self reflective geekdom. Great work Matt. Keep it up. :D

    The Big Picture: Baggage

This is important stuff to consider for how we receive critique as well as give it. Objectivity in news reporting is a very different thing than criticism. Facts should never have agenda attached. Critique involves much more than the factual. Art is powerfully in the eye of the beholder. There...

    I (Also) Wrote That Crap

I'm interested how these have shaped your writing now Bob. What projects are you currently working on, as a fellow film guy with a plethora of crap from the past as well, I find my projects now sometime cherry pick from the best bits of the older stuff.

    Death By Boring

I typically agree with you Bob, and I agree with most of what you're saying here. But I agree more with your "anything can be a good movie" even tired, plodding, cliche genre flicks. It just depends on the film itself, first the script, then the direction. I feel like all those genre's have good...

Escapist Podcast: 076: Dead Island's Bloody Torso and Our 2013 Gaming Picks

Fallout Nuka Break webseries [http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5E9CAB444A9CECB8] I know some of the guys behind this series, it's a great albeit miniaturized version of what a fun, faithful Fallout series could be if given a chance.

This is relevant to my interests, as I have yet to pick them up. :)

Kickstarter Video Project Attracts Misogynist Horde

People need to have some tact. It's moments like these where I shy away from wanting to be a part of the "gaming" community. Even if the project is one sided, which I don't think it is from her description, it's not okay to resort to threats and name calling. That sort of thing only makes the...

Escape to the Movies: John Carter

I agree with you Bob, it could have been better. However it could have been worse. I liked it because though it shirked greatness for good enough, it achieved good enough instead of mediocre or crappy. :) My 2 cents. And Collins was the best part of this movie just like she (not the character...

Escape to the Movies: The Phantom Menace 13 Years Later

Thank you Bob for being the voice of reason here. Yea the prequel trilogy isn't that great. Yea it underwhelms at every turn. Yea somehow Lucas was able to take great Oscar nominated actors and relegate them to freshmen taking a high school drama class. Non of that matters. If you like them...

The Big Picture: Words for Nerds

I like your thoughts on this stuff Bob. Courtesy and understanding always go a lot farther in life then marginalizing and brutishness.

    Hints that you're getting older

I realized I'm starting to get old when I noticed that I have knees. They creak and groan and are just in general noticeable. Which never happened in my early twenties or before. It's a strange feeling. The other thing that makes me feel older is when I see 19-22ish people as "kids" still. Yikes.

    Your personal superpower.

I've always been a great strategist and very intelligent, however that never really served me well as until not long ago I never had the self motivation to make anything of the grand plans. So I suppose I'd have somewhat of an unstoppable plan making ability, if only I'd ever be able to truly...

The Big Picture: In Defense of Nostalgia

The problem I have with this one is it's a one sided look at political nostalgia. Both sides have extremists who take an unfathomably focused look at the past as a means of moving forward. I do respect your opinion though Bob, I just wish you'd have populated both sides of the political...
