    I need recommendations for books

I can recommend some of Robin Hobb's books. The Farseer; Liveship Trader; and Tawny Man trilogies are all set in the same world with recurring characters and a continuing themes. I wouldn't say they're particularly cheerful, but neither are they depressing (at least much less so than A Song of...

Witcher Franchise Sales Almost Match Illegal Downloads

RE: the future Mac release of the Witcher 2 So does this mean that my physical copy of The Witcher 2, currently installed on my Windows partition, will also work on my Macbook Pro without anything required of me, except to install it again? Or will I need to buy another copy/uninstall it from...

I just ordered Chrono Trigger DS instead of Pokemon Soul Silver. Good choice?

Well thanks for the replies, everyone! Many of you are warning against Chrono Trigger if I dislike old games. I can gladly tell you all that I don't. However, while I have played and loved Final Fantasies IV, V and VI ... I always got near to the end and never bothered to finish them. I know...

I just ordered Chrono Trigger DS instead of Pokemon Soul Silver. Good choice?

I'm going on a trip across the US in a week and to pass the time during long drives and the flights there and back I decided to buy a new portable time sink. It was a toss-up between Chrono Trigger and Pokemon Soul Silver (or Heart Gold, but that's unimportant) and I ended up with CT. For me...

E3: Play as Nathan Drake, Big Daddy in PlayStation All Stars

Imagine: Super Smash Bros v. Playstation All Stars (providing the latter turns out as great as the former) ... I would buy that cross-over in a second!

Valve and EA: Mending fences (Time for wild speculation)

As great as this could be, and as bad as EA is blah blah blah, wouldn't it be for the greater good if, instead of responding to (speculative) poorer sales by putting games on steam, they also went and fixed many of the issues with Origin? I've never used it myself (I'm not a huge PC guy) but...

Kingdoms of Amalur 2 Was In Pre-Production

But that would be so retarded. The whole point of taking a proprietary interest over an asset in these circumstances is as security for a debt owed: in the event of a default they claim the property so that they can sell it and recoup the unpaid monies. In other words, they will be millions of...

Pachter: Amalur IP is Worth $20 Million

Yeah I also wondered about this. Is he the only industry "analyst" there is? It seems he has something to say every week, but what about anyone else? Maybe someone who states the obvious a little less.

    GameStop Sales Slide Into 2012

It's unsurprising that used game sales are down - who wants to get handicapped by buying a game you then need to pay £8 to access all the content for? Especially when you go on Amazon and it's as cheap as the used version is. The only reason I buy used now is older games that are too expensive...

Square Enix Sued Over Kane and Lynch 2

Man, Naughty Dog will have a lot to answer for should any other nation get wind of this - I mean, how many nationalities and races has Nathan Drake massacred?

Assassin's Creed Copyright Suit Lawyer Speaks Out

I'm just speculating here but I think it's more related to unjust enrichment - i.e. by using his ideas, Ubisoft has made millions of dollars, and so should give up the gains they have made as a result of taking shortcuts (by "stealing" his concepts). They are "unjustly enriched". I'm not saying...

Pachter: Dragon Age III Pushed Back Due To The Old Republic

Hopefully while most of their resources were being put into TOR, it means that that the writers have the time to actually come up with a compelling story. Maybe you could revisit some of the locations from the first game a century later or something (so that the choices you made will have had...

The Witcher Producer Tries Something New

Xenoblade's world is set on the corpses of two colossal warriors who were in eternal battle, eventually destroying each other simultaneously (at least, this is what I've gleaned from the prologue - no spoilers please). I thought that was pretty awesome. Not to mention that the world is huge.

Poll: Do you enjoy instrumental music?

Explosions In The Sky and Mogwai are two of my favourite bands. The former are entirely instrumental and the latter primarily so. They're both fantastic, though, and I highly recommend listening to the first two EITS albums and Happy Songs For Happy People and Mr Beast my Mogwai.

Things you love...that you didn't at first

In the Aeroplane Over the Sea: wasn't too sure about a lot of it at first, but now it's almost certainly one of my favourite albums. It is literally a masterpiece in musicianship and lyricism. Also, Fallout: NV. Just could not get into it at the start (I made a thread about it here actually)...
