Zero Punctuation: The End is Nigh, and Yonder: Cloud Catcher Chronicles

IwbtG is a slapstick routine disguised as a platformer. For example, consider that first area with the three walls. The first two establish a pattern (walls go forward in the direction of their spikes) so the player thinks that how it works, then the third flips that around to surprise the...

Overwatch Cheaters Are Getting Wrecked By Blizzard

Unless they are a StarCraft/Hearthstone/WoW/Overwatch streamer who makes a living off of playing those games, and gets banned because Blizzard's system mis-flags the hooks OBS/XSplit use for video recording as a memory injection for hacking purposes. I realize OBS has an option to do things in a...

Maybe her name is just supposed to be pronounced with a lisp.

Are Games Losing My Interest, or Is it Just Me?

I find the inverse to be more true. If I'm playing a game to play the game, I dislike having the external distractions since I don't want to be at a disadvantage (we're talking Dark Souls games, competitive fighting games, and RTS games). However, if I'm listening to a podcast then I feel like I...

Bloodborne Is Getting A Dungeon Run-Inspired Card Game - Update

Not necessarily. If the game is built around holding all cards in hand, with the possible exception of the cards most recently played, then the player's moves are determined by their choices, rather than RNG. Now that doesn't mean the enemies won't be random, but the first time through a BB...

Square Enix and the Hitman Ripoff

I find this slightly odd, given that Square Enix has been publishing Life is Strange, and that was the typical "half price for the risk" season pass model. Apparently they've also been generally hands-off with the development. I guess (unsurprisingly) internal communication is not a strong...

What is your favorite RTS game ever?

Zero-K [zero-k.info]. It basically does Total Annihilation's style of flow-based economy and physical simulation, but streamlines the economy so that spending is consistent (all construction uses 1 metal and 1 energy per second), and puts the game at a scale where the physical simulation...

Have you ever made any real friends through / via gaming?

If you want to make real life friends through gaming, either find your local LAN groups or take up fighting games and find your locals scene (relatively easy through relevant message boards, assuming you live in or near a city). The fact that fighting games work best in a local setting...

    Favorite strategy game and why.

Zero-K [http://zero-k.info/] Think Total Annihilation/Supreme Commander's projectile physics, at a scale where they actually matter to individual units, with Command & Conquer's emphasis on a single production structure ( you can build more than one, but the first is free and instant build...

Fire Emblem's Falchion Sword Recreated on Man at Arms

Granted, this is totally off-topic, but I'm the opposite. Most of my party is mages or can otherwise use tomes, while my player character just one-shots everything (and is currently a Dark Knight, to keep the Sword and Tome ranks). I have a big thing for mobility and range flexibility, so I tend...

Middle-Earth's Climate Mapped in Scientific Study

Reading to the end, the author points out that the Middle Earth simulations were unfunded and done in his spare time. Perhaps that should be mentioned in the Escapist article, to avoid misunderstandings.

    Achron Review

You can transfer units back (or forward) in time. It's a more advanced tech (usually 8-12 minutes into an MP game), but you can do it. You can also attack in ways to mess up your opponent's knowledge. For example, attacking with a bunch of units, then undoing it once a timewave has passed by the...

    Achron Review

Don't think about the areas on the timeline as different timelines. That tends to obfuscate understanding. It's the same timeline, but past events will eventually override future events. It's just that your memory (as an Achron) of what could have happened stays intact.
