    Games that Aged INCREDIBLY well

Oh since you mentioned it, Age of Empires 2 & 3 still hold up really well. AoE2, if one can deal with the low resolution, holds up visually as well without the HD re-release. Good 2D artwork in that game.

    Games that Aged INCREDIBLY well

I was thinking to mention Duke Nukem 3D, because I've been playing the Megaton Edition lately and I've been having a blast, but I was afraid the added mouse look support disqualified my experience with it. I did play the original a few years back, it holds up for what it is. Not necessarily...

    Games that Aged INCREDIBLY well

If we don't account for the dated visuals, I find Deus Ex still extremely absorbing and enjoyable. Same with the earlier Thief games. Same with both Half-Life games. The aesthetic and the atmosphere (particularly in Thief's use of shadows and colors) make up for the lack of crispy visual...

Games you play for the story and almost nothing else

Oh yeah, one more vote for the Talos Principle from me. I don't dislike puzzle games, but from some point on puzzles in that game became a matter of reflexes more than anything else.

The Batman Officially Finds its Director

The scene is from a 'dream' sequence in which Superman has become a tyrant under Darkseid and Batman leads the resistance against him. The look is a visual reference to "Superman: Red Son", in which Superman is an authoritarian dictator and Batman is a 'freedom-fighter'. Of course, the long coat...

Poll: What is your appetite like?

I know this isn't an invitation for random advice, but from personal experience I'd suggest not doing that. It's what crippled my metabolism and it's becoming increasingly harder to lose weight as I grow older. Try to at least go back to three meals and, also from personal experience, a big-ass...

Poll: What is your appetite like?

With the exception of the occasional "pig out" moments that come and go, I've always eaten little. I've always been between 1-3 regular meals a day and I've never been big on snacking (with the exception of the times I, unsuccessfully, try to quit smoking). I never go over 2000 calories a day if...

Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind Gets its First Gameplay Trailer, New Screenshots

It looks okay, I guess. I've been flirting with this game for a while now and once this expansion was announced it seemed like it would be the perfect opportunity to buy. The base game+ Morrowind for this price is fair. What I still don't know is what will become of the massive amount of...

    The Value of Replayability

Replayability didn't use to be overlooked; I remember, distinctly, during the PS2 era most reviews did bring it as a factor in the critique. But it has become a tricky concept for both the developer and the consumer, largely because the games industry is bigger and offers a lot more options that...

Poll: If there was an alternative to Steam, would you use it?

There are alternatives to Steam already. Origin doesn't only offer EA games, they have a full catalog and the platform has finally improved to the point that it's worth installing. Its sales tend to go under the radar compared to Steam's, but they do them often and they're pretty good. I...

Games you play for the story and almost nothing else

Point-n-click adventure games and their derivatives (e.g. TellTale, Life is Strange), everything Bioware after DAO, Spec Ops: The Line, the Silent Hill games (though, arguably, these games tend to tell their story through gameplay).

What can be done to improve the JRPG?

I never played many jRPGs (as I didn't own Nintendo consoles growing up and what consoles I did own I had very few games for), I'm only seriously getting into them now (particularly older ones and their PC releases and remakes). As someone not accustomed to the subgenre, my one and only issue...

Okay...because I'd like the subject to be discussed somewhat respectfully...

There's only so much you can say in response to "you're an idiot". It's clear, it's concise, it's a lot more fruitful and honest than just going in circles recycling the same argument, trying to 'win', because you can't outright say what you think about someone else. It's impossible to...

If there WERE a sort-of "anti-DC bias" in the minds of movie reviewers, how do you think it works?

Is this a hypothetical thing? If so, I couldn't tell you. I don't think there is an "anti-DC" bias, I do think though that Marvel has created the current mold for this type of movie (for better or worse) and at least two of three DCEU movies (can't talk about Suicide Squad, I haven't seen it...

What's The Difference Between Creepy and Romantic?

What exactly confuses you? Fisheries moralized and presumed the quality of Strazdas' person and relationships, because of a difference in perspective/opinion/interpretation. Strazdas made no statement regarding "people", he expressed his opinion regarding the nature of self-sacrificial acts...
