    Unpopular movie tastes

In addition to small gothic/historical films like Ironclad and Solomon Kane? I really like the Nick Cage Gone in 60 Seconds, because it's awesome fun as a romp and as a style. I adore the David Lynch Dune on a 'WTF this is awesome' scale. I love the original Thor, because it's just...

Poll: Why Fable Anniversary is low rated ?

The lack of any new original content was what immediately turned me off the game; the major selling point was a graphical upgrade that was poorly executed and not that important in the first place, the tweaks to mechanics were highly limited to the age cap, and all one got for one's trouble was...

What negative assumptions or misconceptions about gaming and gamers really grind your gears?

I've very occasionally come into contact with the stereotype that to be deeply interested in gaming excludes you from other hobbies and interests that aren't seemingly directly related to gaming/sci fi/fantasy/horror. It occasionally confuses people when they see my games collection sitting next...

I want to re-evaluate my stance on EA.

It may have been mentioned above, but EA at least has been consistently and proudly supportive of LGBT rights as a gaming company, and, while there were obviously issues with both games, DA2 and ME3 both did excellent work to normalise LGBT characters and multiple orientations within their game...

I'm a straight male gamer, convince me diversity in games is a good thing

    A) Because a significant number of gamers aren't straight, male or white, and they may wish to project themselves onto the main character as much as the current majority in gaming. B) Because by diversifying gaming, you make it more attractive to other demographics and thus increase the...

    Games that you've abandoned playing

Dragon's Dogma and Blue Dragon, both for the same reason. Having read excellent reviews, got onto them and found the combat boring and repetitive, the art style depressing and a complete lack of charm or humour in anything, and after twenty hours of play, I still wasn't interested in the slightest.

Poll: Which is the better Marvel Movie

They're different beasts, and Guardians has the advantage of living in a post-Avengers universe where the general public are more open to the idea that superhero films can actually be good in their own right. I think my favourite Marvel film is probably the first Thor simply because it's nice...

    Poll: I like Branston Pickle

Much as I'm enjoying being about 3 stone lighter than I was previously, I must admit that one of the downsides of living the lifestyle of an impoverished student on a low carb, low fat diet is the comparative lack of cheese and bread to make the requisite cheese on toast or cheese and pickle...

Good Games with progressive female characters or progesssive ideas for them (READ OP BEFORE POSTING)

I'd suggest the nomination of Ashley Williams from the Mass Effect series (if no-one suggested her before). Given the entire spectrum of squadmates available in the Mass Effect game, Ashley is probably the most focused towards combat; in the first game, she's the only combat specialist in the...

How do you Organize your Games/Movies/Comics/etc?

I always run my discs alphabetically, with the only exception (at the moment) being the placement of the Hobbit I with the other Lord of the Rings films. In terms of book series, I tend to group them together by author.

    MLP Season 4 thoughts.

I liked it, although I think I still prefer Season 2. Still, the final episode was pretty damn amazing. I did however feel that the season began to tail off a bit in the second half from Twilight time, and I'd have liked to see a little bit more of a focus on the Mane 6 as a group, and maybe a...

Who is the biggest Bad Ass?

Anime: Alucard, from Hellsing Ultimate. Even if we ignore the Abridged Series for the moment (in which he's even moreso), the fact that Alucard spends almost all of the series with his powers severely limited, and yet still manages to go toe to toe with everything in the Universe is incredible...

Play as a Female Warrior in War of the Vikings

Pretty much. I'm not taking away from what the dev's doing, because less bikini armour is probably a good thing (I don't intrinsically object to it, but I'd rather it was the exception to the rule in stylised games mirrored by a similar male design than the rule itself), but I think more...

Poll: Internet reviewers/comedians: do you like their "epic" stuff?

I think it depends what I'm watching the review for; if I want to know whether I should go to see/buy a film, then I watch MovieBob or Mark Kermode on the BBC, or read a review in a paper or on IMDB; they're often still entertaining, but I mainly want to get the information and then get out...

Bosses you didn't want to fight?

While not a boss per se, I was reluctant to have to kill Titus Mede in Skyrim. I just felt that, as someone who sympathised with the Imperial Legion over the Stormcloaks (I mean, seriously, pragmatic realists looking to keep the empire united, vs a bunch of racist wannabe Bravehearts with no...
