I'll gladly recommend this VN as well. Even if the story is not exactly your thing, it's a great example of how to use the Visual Novel format well, by leaving a lot up to the imagination, while still giving enough visual and audio hints to send your thoughts in the right direction. Also, it's...
The Writer Will Do Something [http://mrwasteland.itch.io/twwds] can illustrate this much better than I ever can, but in short:
It's because the story almost always comes second to the gameplay. With the exception of say, a Bioware game, the story is usually the last thing created. Which means...
Wow, that is... the perfect combination of corporate cynicism and stupidity. Why am I not surprised?
On the bright side, I found a new youtube channel to subscribe to, so thanks!
EDIT: And then I realise he only has the one video :(
As someone who has no idea who Doomsday is, can someone explain what the big deal is? I mean, he's obviously going to be used to force Batman and Superman to work together, which is an incredibly lazy way of doing that. But is he actually an interesting character that's wasted on this movie, or...
I didn't have any plans to buy PoI any time soon, because the gameplay of old D&D games is incomprehensible to me. I was planning on forcing my way through Baldur's Gate 2 and Planescape Torment before I spend any more money on new CRPGs I won't finish.
But this addition of a Story Mode...
I haven't played it yet. I tell myself it's because it will inevitably have worse writing than New Vegas. But mostly it's because my pc probably won't run it very well, and I don't plan on upgrading for a while yet.
It's surprising how much information you can convey in 10 minutes if you know what you're doing. Visual storytelling and all that.
Or they could just, you know, ask questions that don't require long answers.
EDIT: You know what, I'm probably way too deep down the nitpicking hole at this...
Well it was pretty and looked like metroid, I'll give it that. But aside from that, meh. The story basically amounted to nothing and I can't say the portrayal of Samus was great or anything. I don't expect a deep narrative or anything, but at least be about something. What did we learn? Where...
Read a book ;-P. Or some comics. Scott Pilgrim versus the world is pretty great.
If you desperately want something that would normally have sound, you could give Bakemonogatari a try. It's almost entirely dialogue.
I can't speak for Ocarina of Time because I haven't played it, but both Doom and Mario 64 are still very playable today. There's a reason all FPS games today use the exact same control scheme as Doom. You could argue that later games improved on them, (and I'd be inclined to agree with you) but...
Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus has developer commentary if you beat a level's time trial.
Also worth checking out are the Ratchet and Clank playthroughs [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK6eeS1LPFQ&list=PLBE216F8E761D085C] by two of the developers. They go a lot more in-depth than the...
