I believe adaptations should be able to stand on their own and add depth to the story that only their medium could provide. Otherwise I see no reason to make an adaptation at all.
I'd like an apocalypse that would kill me painlessly in it's fist seconds, preferably so I won't even know it's happened. Never seen much fun in surviving these things. Unless I die BEFORE the apocalypse then it's zombies for sure! No cremation for me. I'd just like to be buried with an axe then.
