    Trope-a-Dope

Yes, there is a preoccupation for an originality that doesn't exist. Nothing is really new. The important thing isn't the story but how it's told. And that's where Avatar falls. It's an ok film, spectacular in it's way. But you can't justify the narrative of Avatar by mentioning the...

Cambridge Deems Twilight Worthy of Analysis

I was going to post a predictable knee-jerk reaction that shows I didn't even properly read the article, but I'd just be repeating what so many have already said so erm... yeah.

Science Indicates Why Bad Cowboys Lose Duels

Well, don't get carried away. ?You?d still be the one who gets shot, but you?d at least die satisfied that you were faster,? said Andrew Welchman

Study Reveals Why "Nerds" Get Bullied

Correlation does not equal causation. The kid with the social problems probably has something else going on. Besides, I don't like the implication that the kid being bullied is the one doing something wrong. But then, who's going to pay to stop their child being a bully?

How much do Australian businesses potentially lose because of this moronic puritan?

DJ Hero Highest-Grossing New IP of '09, Says Activision

1.79m. That's the sales according to VGChartz. Activision need to justify their commitment to the IP ofcourse(referring to revenue and not sales), but just short of 1.8m doesn't seem so bad for a flop that's over twice the price of the majority of it's competitors. It's an excellent...

236: Finding Meaning in Modern Warfare

I recall Charlie Brooker referencing Citizen Kane. Ah, OK then.

EA CEO Thinks Mirror's Edge "Deserves to Come Back"

I really liked Mirror'Edge, it's a beautiful game. Hopefully any sequel would remove the fighting. Have more variation in the levels too to keep up momentum. Set up alternatives to the harder jumps so you can take on the challenge if you want a quicker time but you don't have to be stuck.

NCSoft Unveils Ridiculously Pretty "Aion Visions"

It's a beautiful game; runs really well. It's just so damned boring.

It's the End of the War as We Know It

Yes, the price depends on what people are prepared to pay. But whether people think it's good value is influenced largely by the prices of comparable releases on the market. There are many potential customers that are prepared to go without if they think they're being ripped off. The more people...

It's the End of the War as We Know It

Except there are alternatives: from competitors who also quite like making money but who have understood PC games should be less expensive, because they cost less to publish.

Call of Duty to get WoW-Like Subscriptions?

Can't say I'm shocked. I'd like to say that people aren't stupid enough to make this a success, but I've been wrong with that assumption too many times.

It's the End of the War as We Know It

It's actually more like the console players are prepared to pay more for less features. That's how it's been since day one. People can have this console centred point of view, like children making sure their siblings don't get more food, but comparing features like that is irrelevant. If it's on...

Brütal Legend, DJ Hero Ring Up Disappointing Sales

I think the release date of DJ Hero is awkward for such an expensive buy. It's hard to rationalise spending that much on impulse, and with christmas so close there will be many who are prepared/compelled to wait. I am going to buy it at some point, it looks like a really fun game (which is all I...

"Shocking" Modern Warfare 2 to be Raised in U.K. Parliament

Hate the government if you want, but I'd like to mention that while Vaz predictably raises the issue he doesn't speak for the government, which in actual fact supported mature games. Mr. Simon (Culture, Media and Sport Minister): The clearest recommendation of the Byron review is that...
