Predicting What's New on the Nostalgia Horizon - The PS1 Era

Final Fantasy VII came out in 1997. It's remake will be coming out around 2017. You can already tell there's some nostalgic JRPG'ing going on with releases like "I am Setsuna". 20 year rule checks out.

THQ Blames Homefront Single Player for Lukewarm Reviews

Who cares? I don't get why there so much talk about this homefront, especially from the makers. It's odd how much hand wringing and hurt feelings surround it. You don't see a guy from Capcom come out and admit failings about Bayonetta, or blame the critics for not being forward looking enough.

    Another Decade of Tabletop Gaming!

I like it too, but more for the implications about Monte Cook and his skill and style as a game designer.

    Epic Mickey Offers No Choice

I'm not kidding in the slightest when I say I wish I could spend christmas like Yahtzee. The awkward family reunions are really the words part of christmas.

View from the Road: The Lesson of Final Fantasy XIII

I do agree with this article. I haven't played FFXIII, so my example would be the Penny Arcade games, which were surprisingly greatly designed in these regards. In general I think RPGs need to dial down the resource management a bit. In the PA games, you didn't even have to manage money and...

259: The Player and the Pusher-Man

I'm quite curious as to what the article defines "fun" as. It seems pretty adamant at drawing a line between fun and "accomplishment", but what if they're one and the same? The sense of accomplishment exists in every game, whether it's completing a level, getting a new weapon or finishing the...

The Escapist Presents: Starcraft 2 101: Tips & Tricks

Very nice. Most of this stuff I've already learned the hard way during the beta, but still good. I feel pretty stupid for not knowing the creep generators can MAKE creep generators themselves though XD. So much energy my queen have wasted...

View from the Road: What Do WoW and Twilight Have in Common?

Key-word, "were". You have this laundry list of "conditions" that apparently a vampire HAS to uphold to be a vampire, but you base it only on a consensus of ancient myths and folklore. There's been many interpretation since then that does not meet all your requirements. Myths change with time...

View from the Road: What Do WoW and Twilight Have in Common?

Well, you are right. One interpretation or spin on whatever fantasy monster or whatever isn't more right than the other. In that sense, yeah, the Vampires from Twilight are true vampires. However, they're nevertheless still a stupid take on the vampire. See this: I find unlikely. I mean, I...
