    Most disapointing game of 2013

Bioshock Infinite. It wasn't a bad game, I definitely enjoyed playing it, and I'd list it among my favorite of the year, but it just wasn't as strong as I was hoping for. Then again that's hardly Bioshock Infinite's fault: I went into the game with pretty high expectations thanks to Bioshock...

ME3: Best Sniper Rifle (let's keep the spoilers mild)

So far in single player I'd say the best is the javelin. It appears to deal the same amount of damage as the widow (maybe a little less, I can't tell on the weapon select screen) but it has an enhanced scope built in so it can see through smoke, light cover, and it can see cloaked enemies. Its...

Mass Effect 3 PC will require Orgin

Buying Mass Effect 3 for console instead of PC will not get EA to change the Origin policy. Boycotting the Mass Effect franchise will not get EA to change the Origin policy. Boycotting the Battlefield franchise, the Crysis franchise, the Dragon Age franchise, the Dead Space franchise, or many...

    Recommend me some Lovecraft?

Considering that Lord Dunsany and E.A. Poe were two of Lovecraft's biggest heroes and influences, this advice amounts to "don't read Lovecraft." OT: "The Rats in the Walls." Fairly short, but the language and pacing build a fantastic sense of impending doom. It was the only story of his...

    Skyrim Mods

    1) Skyrim needs Oblivion's "no psychic guards" mod. I took Faendal from Riverwood up to the Sacellum of Boethiah and sacrificed him to the Prince of Plots. There was absolutely no one there to see us since I'd already killed off all of Boethiah's worshipers, but when I returned to Whiterun the...

    Do you read in-game?

Sometimes. If I see a title or codex header that looks interesting then I'll read it, and I read through every book that gives me a skill boost, quest, or map marker so I can understand why this particular book is giving me this particular bonus.

So... What did everyone do for Halloween then?

I dressed up as the slender man (complete with stilts to make me taller and home-made puppetry rig for longer and still functional arms and hands), stood outside on our porch, and terrified as many people as I could when they came to our door.

Poll: Should games like "Super Columbine Massacre RPG!" be allowed?

Should Super Columbine Massacre RPG! have been allowed? Absolutely. American freedom of speech and all that. Should it have been made? Again, absolutely. Danny Ledonne created the game to work through his feelings about the shootings as well as to comment on and satirize how society reacted...

Poll: Which to preorder: Mass Effect 3 or Skyrim?

As much as I'm looking forward to both games, I'm voting Mass Effect 3 on this. I loved Oblivion, I think I've put something like 130 hours into my main character on it, but what takes Oblivion from a good game to a fantastic game for me is the mods. I can't imagine playing it without some of...

Mass Effect Players! Toss me a bone will ya?

Actually, that's not true. They're not 70% and 100% caps, they're +70% and +100%, meaning it takes 70% or 100% of your paragon/renegade score and adds it back to your paragon/renegade score, leaving you with either 1.7 times or 2 times your un-augmented paragon/renegade score. So, it's easier...

    Poll: Are ouija boards dangerous?

Personally, I think it depends. Our minds filter and interpret everything that comes in from our senses and our minds are largely shaped by our beliefs and preconceptions, so our perception of reality is likewise influenced. It doesn't matter what's true or false, different people with...

What have you been called weird for?

I've been called weird for a lot of things but the most recent example would be knowing all the lyrics to "Slaughter Your World." Either that or the fact that my laugh is pretty deep and Vincent Price-ish in its level of creepy/evil.
