They are both gambling, the ability to trade the cards doesn't change that.

It may be a significant difference it's just not relevant here where we are discussing gambling as that applies to both.

You buy a loot crate/pack of cards and you don't really know what you are going to get, that is the issue here and being able to trade cards doesn't nullify that.

I care about my kids being influenced to buy worthless digital random junk and I am glad the masses finally care too. You know what else I care about and cared about before I had children? Corporations using kids to sell things through school/scouts with a small chance of winning a cheap dollar...

If the Wii was a 7th generation console (it was) then the Wii U would be an 8th generation console and since it launched before the other 8th gen consoles, the launch of the Wii U started the 8th generation. Just like the Switch has started the 9th generation.

The Switch started a new generation. Wii, 360, PS3. Wii U, Xbox One, PS4. Switch, ..., ....

Generations aren't defined by hardware power.

Microtransactions/DLC are like extra fees for people who can't control themselves just like pre-ordering is for people who can't contain their own hype. I am quite happy to let those people subsidize those of us who will not pay these extra fees.
