There is a lot I disagree with on this list, but I think most of it has been said already. However, there is one thing people are glossing over.
Aliens: Isolation was nominated for "Best Action/Adventure Game".
You had to use a survival horror game with a focus on stealth to pad out...
I just rewatched Yahtzee's Best of 2013 video and he actually predicted the plot of Advanced Warfare (specifically, he made a joke about creating a bomb that would kill people with the wrong skin color, and there is a DNA bomb in the game).
I played this game and Yahtzee wasn't nearly as angry as I was about it. The complete lack of pacing, the jarring tonal shifts, the poorly balanced combat (Yahtzee was always lacking in ammo, but if you upgraded damage and only damage you'd be getting one hit kills all the time so I ended up...
'Behind the two girls, Shinji continued giggling like a ten year old girl. "Heh heh heh, boom, heh."'
I immediately thought of Beavis and Butthead. Oh, man, a crossover fic with that would be glorious. I can just imagine it.
I agree, the fans are hilarious. You on the other hand...
Oh, I'm just kidding. You're vastly better than some of the other stuff Escapist has put out. I still remember Game Dogs. Ugh.
I actually don't like the story of Rebuild too much. It's basically the original run of Evangelion but with significantly less character development.
The action though. Oh man, the action. They drew the angels in full 3D CGI for the action scenes, and it is beautiful.
And the ending of 2...
Shinji is basically, no literally, a child soldier. I can easily see why he wouldn't want to pilot Eva.
It's like going to a child soldier in Africa and saying "How could you possibly hate your life? You get to play with cool guns and hang around all these normal, not completely psychopathic...
Well, check out GoG. They have some great strategy games, like Ground Control, Dark Reign, Jagged Alliance 2, and Gorky 13. All of them are great. Swat 1 and 2 are ok, but they are bundled together.
Finally, a reviewer that doesn't hate the game for stupid reasons.
Did the game have problems? Yes. But not a single one of them was from being too immature, or childish or crude. It's Duke Nukem! Complaining that Duke Nukem was offensive is like complaining that the Chinese Restaurant down...
But, Alpha Protocol is an RPG masterpiece.
I don't think Andy Chalk understands what he is saying. He is obviously confused. It is very hard for me to describe my feelings for him without breaking 7 separate forum rules.
Actual Yakuza members have played Yakuza games. They say the gameplay is fun and makes sense (the commented on how different real world drinks in the game give effects that they would expect and the like), but say that no Yakuza would actually act like that before getting killed by his own group...
