I always preferred Makoto Kusanagi's English dub voice a little bit more than the original, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it didn't suit her. Also I prefer the entire cast of Ergo Proxy more in English, as Re-l sounds more like and adult, and it seems to just fit the setting better...
