Remember that one game that was inspired by FFXV and Devil May Cry? Got announced back in 2016? Had a couple of trailers, then went on radio silence for about 3 years? No? Well any way, let me get you up to speed. This whole project was developed by one guy, until Sony helped with the funding and got him a team. He still did a lot of the work on his own.

Isn't the game inspired by FFXV and DMC FFXVI? lol

Either way, this looks hype and I never heard of it, will be keeping tabs onit.

This reminds me of that Wukong monkey game that looked cool.

It is another one of those really cool look concept trailers that will never come out, or if they do they will take so long in development that theyll behind modern game concepts and just be mediocre at best.

Looks like typical China Jank.

Flashy moves but seemingly little substance, also not a fan of pretty yet barren maps.

I do remember the original trailer from back then and my attitude towards it was the same as now; Looks pretty, but that's about as far as it goes.

I'm not expecting the game to exceed my expectations or anything, but I'm just looking for a fun, stylish, Wuxia game. I can see you both your points, but I'm just here for the combat anyway. As much as I love Devil May Cry, Bayo, SOR4, and other 2D and 3D brawler games, I got to mix it up every once in a while. I have a feeling this game it's going to be fine though.

I forget which trailer I saw, but I do remember seeing one of them a few years back.
I can tell this game is gonna have a bad case of "boy I wish I could do what I'm seeing in these cutscenes", but otherwise, this game's definitely my style and I hope it comes together well!

I will believe it when that year has a month and a day right next to it. Lost Soul Aside as been in development for a decade now.

I'm gonna be honest, a lot of the recent and upcoming asian action games are kinda starting to blur together for me. Lies of P, Stellar Blade, Tides of Annihilation, Phantom Blade Zero, Lost Souls Aside...

And I think part of it is because they're all on the Unreal Engine, which has kind of a distinctive look. But also, just something about the art design. It all has that kind of pseudo Nomura Anime bit Realistic look to it

While that is true about using UE5, each game has its own art direction and style. There are clear difference between Lies of P, Phantom Blade 0, LSA, & TOA. Stellar Blade is really the only odd one out, and comes off as third rate Bayonetta and Nier Automata clone in terms of looks.

This game is coming out on the exact same day as Elden Ring Nightrein and I'm gonna be playing this instead, so that tells you all you need to know about how hype I am. Both about the game itself and the saga behind its creation.

I think this game is way more FF-style than any of the others, both in the human look but also in terms of fashion and magical entity design. And the guy making it literally stated that this was his goal. He's a FF fan so he wanted to make something on that vein lol.

Meanwhile Stellar Blade was way more akin to something Team Ninja would make, emphasis on beauty and style over "coolness". Phantom Blade and Wukong I think do their own thing entirely and if anything look a bit like advanced Sekiro than anything related to FF.

The creator of Phantom Blade has straight up admitted his major inspiration are Metal Gear Rising and Ninja Gaiden. Especially the former. The only thing Souls inspired is the interconnected level design and short cuts.

It's funny that a game that started off as a fan project of Final Fantasy XV/Versus XIII has had almost as long of a development.

I put down the pre order for this game. $5 for now, and the rest I'll pay off when I get paid next week.

Sekiro is more akin to Ninja Gaiden than souls too actually, it's a pure action game. About the only souls thing it has is the lock on system and bonfires. Sekiro to me is the ideal ninja game, which was a position held by ninja gaiden prior to it, so there's a ton of shared elements there.

Sekiro to me is the ideal ninja game,
My ideal ninja game will always be Mark of the Ninja, in terms of stealth and sneaking around undetected. As far as combat, I give it to Ninja Gaiden II Black. Though I completely understand why you give to Sekiro.
