The UK had a weird moral panic about ninjas in the 80's and 90's (I'm pretty sure it was a racist dog whistle) and the current government seems to think it's wortwhile appealing to people's nostalgia for it.

You can embed shorts, but it takes a workaround. Shorts are actually just normal vids, but their urls are formatted differently. So the forum can't recognize them as youtube videos, because the software its built on was never updated to.

If you put the video id, in this case _TG4-CfiSko, between [ media=youtube ] [ /media ] tags without the spaces, it embeds.

Same with twitter posts. Replace x.com with twitter.com, and it embeds again.

Ahh, neat, do you know how to embed tumblr vids also? Nothing I do seems to work.

The UK has a real problem with knife crime and has been taking steps to stop people easily getting their hands on the more dangerous bladed weapons available on the internet. I would of thought the banning of swords would be a good step towards stopping people stabbing other people with sharp objects.

I can see a law saying you can't walk around with a ninja sword in public but this is you literally can't have a ninja sword.

London is a densely populated city, so it's not surprising. I will say the UK should focus more on getting orgs/companies to create jobs in the UK, like tech jobs, and getting more nurses to the NHS.

Any curved blade over about 20 inches would already be classed as a sword and thus would already be illegal in many cases.

For blades under that length though, I don't think they're covered by any of the existing categories of weapons that are illegal to manufacture or own. I absolutely thought they were covered by existing legislation though.

I can see a law saying you can't walk around with a ninja sword in public but this is you literally can't have a ninja sword.
With a few exceptions you can't legally carry any bladed weapon in public in the UK (concealed or otherwise). There's a certain amount of discretion built into the law as to whether you have a "good reason" to do so, which means it's not quite as bad as it sounds, but it is pretty strict.

There's also a list of categories of knives which are illegal to own, usually knives which are either built to be concealed or which have an explicitly violent purpose.
