Whatever, just wash your hands.
Beat Legacy of Kain Soul Caliber, I mean Reaver last night. Story is still quite good, but the gameplay hasn't aged the best. Started up Soul Reaver 2 today and holy shit, I mean, I remembered that it looked better then the first game, but it looks fantastic for a psx game, I don't even really want the remastered character graphics. The game even has lip syncing and blinking eyes. Also, the story in 2 sums up the final of 1 nicely and the dialog is just a joy to listen to, very Shakespearian and interesting. Gameplay is more refined, still rough but better, and the levels are much more detailed and interesting.

Thanks! Yeah the idea is to go in as blind as possible but keep a cheatsheet handy for whenever I meet a new character so I don't lock myself out of anything major. I hate it that NPCs in these are always killing each other or getting themselves killed unless you do something incredibly unintuitive at the exact right moment.

Loved RDR2 so that's a lofty comparison to make.
Cool cool. As a one off playthrough though I wouldn’t sweat the NPCs this time. It’s still occasionally obtuse, but you wouldn’t miss much unless you’re looking to Platinum it (which can be done in one playthrough with save scumming) or have some helpful things for NG+.

FROM did a pretty commendable job designing their first open world game. In terms of detail RDR2 won’t be surpassed until GTA6, but Elden Ring IMO managed to dangle its own carrot rather well being basically the opposite of a checklist type of map. A good loop of exploring, combat, and character building. The Fextra site is a good resource too for efficiency’s sake.

@ExtraWildGames, @Old_Hunter_77, @NerfedFalcon, and @Worgen, I think Rushing Beat X possibly has me in hostage mode. I keep finding reasons to go back and play thinking I am done. The combat keeps drawing me back, despite its flaws. Partially (the first 5-8 minutes) looking at 1CC run only inspired me to do better and try what the other person did. I managed to do a near 1CC Run with Kahlua. Originally, I thought she was the worse character to play as, but turns out, Kahlua is one of better combo focused characters to play and beat the game. There is so much pause combo cancelling, and dash cancelling you can do, but the game barely ever tells you.

I did the entire run on Hard, and only died once at the final boss. He ain't even hard, it just the boss before him, Juliet, can be a biatch to fight. I managed to beat my old high score again, and totaled to 207,881. I am putting this down, as I've really got to get back to other games now.

For a game you kinda sounded lukewarm on, it really seemed to grab you.

I still stand by rating, but at least i am able to get through the game without too much hassle now. They still need to make these fixes for quality improvements and add a training mode.

Obviously Johnny is going to platinum it.

Ape Escape 2 is only okay.

In Ape Escape you got a life with 100 gems. Ape Escape 2 wastes your time by making you cash the gems at a slot machine, which rarely rolls out balls with lives and far more often rolls out concept art (Who cares?), soundtracks (Who cares?), statues (Who cares?), comics (Who cares?) and a story in parts (Who cares?).

The villain Specter only briefly appeared in the opening. Three hours later, the protagonist still hasn't even met him. That's not a story. The levels aren't as good and the music is worse. The controls feel worse too. For example, the flying tool over the green triangle button in that screenshot doesn't provide the distance that it did in the first game.

Yeah I've been seeing Iconoclast go pretty hard in that game, seems fun. Might get it on sale.

You doing mainly a melee build (STR, DEX, Quality)?
I think so, yeah. Picked Vagabond class and have mostly upgraded vitality and endurance, strength third. But if this goes like all my other Souls runs I'll probably end up defaulting to the first two hander sword I find and beef up strength and dex forever.

So far my starter sword/halberd have carried me through the first few bosses. No upgrades. I take it eventually there's an unlimited number of smithing stones you can buy, right? I want to start plus-oning my gear.

Finding a set of items called 'Bell Bearings' in the world will allow you to expand a certain store that you'll come across naturally sooner or later. Among them are Bell Bearings that add Smithing Stones, as well as Grave Glovewort for your Ashes of War. There's also variants for Somber Smithing Stones and Ghost Glovewort, which are used to upgrade unique weapons and Ashes respectively.

Missed the edit window - I mean Spirit Ashes. The ones that let you summon allies, not the ones that change your Weapon Arts. Been a while since I played it myself.
Also regarding this @Johnny Novgorod did you meet the witch at the first church? She’ll give you something for the above. In Limgrave nearby there are a couple really good early strength weapons, and note the requirements to wield them are 50% when two-handing.

Yes, met the blue witch lady already. Also met Varre, Yura, Blaidd. Gave Boc back his sewing kit, took Kenneth's fort back for him.
I've beaten Beastman of Farum Azala, the two Demi-Humans and the Stonedigger Troll. Tree Sentinel continues to curb stomp me. And I took a look at the dragon once and bravely fled.
Haven't really dabbled on magic, ashes, etc.
I'm on Lordsworn Greatsword +1 but still think I'm not doing as much damage as I should be doing.

Yeah Tree Sentinel is planted there to test people’s stubbornness. Fun going back later on after leveling, or even right away in NG+ as a skill check.

At some point you’ll get a whetstone knife and different whetstones to get more oomph out of weapons. There’s also a better greatsword further south in another area that hits harder.

Across the bridge, south of the starting area? I'll check it out.

Right now I'm going around doing absolutely everything I can before trying out Stormveil Castle.

So, I stopped playing Ghost Recon Wildlands. Aside from it being an Ubisoft game full of "content", I started to become increasingly uncomfortable with my character and what they were up to. I get that it might well be deliberate, Ubisoft open world shooters do tend to have a themes of, 'are you really all that morally superior here?' woven in at points. But, certainly it suddenly popped into my head, as I was holding a gun to the head of a local narco, that we are a bunch of heavily armed CIA operatives, hoofing it round a South American country, illegally, killing its citizens, killing members of its armed forces, who are quite understandably attacking these heavily armed foreigners who are shooting up the place. It just felt very...current...

So I reinstalled RE: Revelations. I stopped playing ohhh...lets see last save june 2015 according to steam. I thought I'd never finished it, but it appears that I did. so I uninstalled that and am now installing Resident Evil 0, as a bunch of RE stuff is on sale on steam ATM.

Edit: Just started. What an intro. In the 11 years since I played an RE game I'd almost forgotten how brilliantly terrible they are.

On that note, saw this in the community page, made me chuckle.
