I decided to do one more run of RBX, and managed a 1CC with Rick Norton this time, and got a new high score on top. It was to make up for a run where I had a soft lock, and I didn't want to restart at that time. This was weeks ago though.

I am starting Pragmata tonight.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
The festival halts all hostilities, locks some doors, activates a way gate and of course the NPCs all gather in the house of Jerren. Once Radahn is defeated, speaking with Jerren will effectively end the festival, returning the castle to its original state.
Damn, I'll have to look around when I finally get around to my next play through.

I started Pragmata today and its pretty damn cool. It looks fantastic and is one of those games that really makes the most out of raytracing. Gameplay is RE4 with more maneuverability, hacking feels good on both keyboard/mouse and controller. Its just really damn good.

I started up Chrono Trigger again after not having played is since high school. I could have sworn this game took a lot longer to get going. I'm less than 4 hours in, and I've already arrived at the End of Time. Maybe it's time's temporal distortion (see what I did there?) that comes with age, or maybe it took longer to get used to the game back then, but it feels like it's just zipping past.

Been awhile, but you can do a lot of messing around (visit all the little town along both island) in both the present and the past if you don't want to just follow the main story, so that can lengthen things (you can also do a bunch of mini game at the fair).

Caelid is icky.

Sorcerer ghost town is cool.

Dragonbarrow can fuck off though.

Alexander is bae. Yeah they're just doing Siegmeyer again. Whatever, it works.

Beat O'Neil and after the big 'story bosses' so far he's probably the most exciting fight in the game: an aggressive boss that's fairly easy to read. It's also the only one where I even bothered learning its patterns.

Yeah, this game went for the "width instead of depth" route. Back in the day I found it kind of disappointing after having played Final Fantasy 3.

Started RE: Requiem which came with the GPU (12GB RTX 5070) for my new build. I let it auto set stuff for quality mode which looked like nearly everything is maxed (have to check but think shadows, volumetrics, ao, ssr were on High) tessellation, ray tracing, etc. and getting a min frame rate in the low 160’s up to the 180’s. I’ve heard path tracing is basically attempted GPU murder, but am curious to try it. The game looks stunning as-is though, with especially good facial renderings, clothing, gore effects, etc. Environmental artwork is better than past games albeit not industry top tier stuff.

Another impressive aspect is the tone and, in conjunction, atmosphere of the game. Acting feels more natural, with subtle tension in Grace’s sections, though highly dramatic in some cutscenes, while an older Leon is still gruff though not as comically so. Only played a bit of his first section before calling it a night. Liked the way they brought the two mains together.

Gameplay impressions to follow after more time with it, but feels decidedly RE so far but hoping for some surprises in that regard as well.

Indiano Jones
Just kill the nazis for crying out loud. Don't whack them over the head with a wooden chair like it's Saturday morning wrestling, don't grab their nose like they're a baby whose about to lose their nose. Fucking shoot them in the fucking brains so they never get up ever again! Brains. On. The. Outside. And. Nothing. Less. Seriously if Indie was real he'd hold a fair share of the blame for why we're where we are at now instead of Operation Paperclip lol.

Also I kinda hilarious how incessant friendly NPCs arei if you don't move for a minute, they keep barking the exact same line almost without any moment for breath in between. One moment recently was especially weird cos after the 50th bark, some programming must've remembered there was another option to play instead, but that options was an extremely jarring shift in tone from panicked call outs to a sultry/sardonic under-the-breath comment at my inactivity, going straight back to the old panicked line repetition.

Started playing Persona 5 and got a bit overwhelmed by the idea of it all.

I don't have the energy or time to do multiple playthroughs of the game yet I would still like to do as much as possible which leaves me in a weird paralysed state; on the one hand I'd like to continue on with the story, on the other hand I'm afraid I'll miss some event or whatever so I don't want to play it.

Don't know if I'll ever continue past April like this.

There are guides to how you can do everything. But, Persona is more about making the most out of your time. I don't do multiple playthroughs either, but I enjoyed Persona 5 enough to immediately play through it a second time after I finished. There is very little that is timed, like if you don't hang out with someone one day, you will almost always have a chance later. There is an overall time limit, but its pretty easy to finish most characters. But all is harder, its not like Metaphor where doing everything is pretty easy.

There's like two three social contract that give you insanely useful stuff, if you get those early you have more than enough time and will probably finish the game with time to spare.

I platinumed the game on one playthrough with no guide. If you are at least somewhat thorough in how you play the game you won't miss anything. It's not as tight as Persona 3 or 4 were.

Been playing slay the spire 2 with a friend. Its more of the same, but with multiplayer, so pretty good.

There's been dozen of clones since its first release, but none of them really introduce any killer mechanic that felt like they pushed the genre forward, so more of the same works.

I like the tyrant, not crazy about the necro yet.

The Regent, I think is what you mean. My personal go-tos are The Silent and The Defect.

Yeah Silent is great, just like first one. One nice things about playing MP is that it smooth over the problem where an enemy really break your build. My friend was playing silent with shiv spec and doing really well, but once we hit the hive knight elite boss, it completely messed with him, while I was playing regent and it didn't really affect me that much.

The plot of Dark Wizard for the Sega CD is very confusing. I'm playing as Krystal and her plot starts with her and her sister's fiancee, Marcus, selling their souls to avenge the death of her sister, Kimberly, who was murdered by King Armer VIII. She assassinates the king and it turns out that it was actually the Dark Wizard Velonese that killed her sister so she declares to the people that the king is dead and she will rule to avenge his death.

10 hours later I've just met Kimberly in a random village that Krystal and Marcus grew up in, and she's not dead and just asks Krystal to fight for the people and not for vengence and then runs away. I don't get it, why isn't she dead? Then I free Marcus from a church and he restates his desire to avenge Kimberly, who he calls his sister instead of his fiance like the intro did. Huh.

That... sounds like a victim of poor translation more than anything else.

Defeated Radahn and it was pretty easy. Was I overleveled at 65? So far I haven't had to shake up my strat over anybody. I just wear whatever offers most protection while keeping me from fat rolling, and upgrade BHF and Brass Shield whenever I can.

And I found my first bug: tried fighting a ghost moose boss and it suddenly clipped through the floor and died. Thank goodness the trophy still popped.

Crimson Peak. Uh, Tower. Or Sea. Velvet. River? Waterfall? Rain? Fox? Desert!

A tip from the future. The fishing rod is a cruel lie. I assure you it's unbelievably easier just grabbing the bastard's with your bare hands by holding the 'pick up item' button as you wade or plough through any body of water instead. Hate to be one of those "doctors don't want you hearing about this one simple trick" but it's true this time, I swear! Mainly cos I don't yet know how to profit out of it. But when I do...ohhh when I do...
