Like a fluffier looser Hollow Knight, in basic genre and system terms. But instead of bugs it's the power of paint. And you don't stab enemies to death with a pin, you...um, hit them very hard with a brush until their consciousness is painted over with DEATH. It's totally different and legal, k? Only foible is it has this common sort of weightless non-reactivity whenever the character model jumps making it feel like it's missing an integral tactile texture found among the peers. Is such a tiny issue that makes so much of a difference, being simultaneously instant yet omnipresent a part of interaction, unavoidable from beginning to end. Is like...only a single twist of a singular dial away from something greater.

MotorSlice
Low poly-ish, low budget-ish tightly focused wall-running/chainsawing platforming/combat narrative journey that had the genius to come with drum n bass soundtrack. Looks and feels better than assumed, the weight and momentum is distinct while the low poly is kinda just various industrial textures, as character models are nice and rounded/animated. Haven't found enemies yet so have only attacked objects so far. I assure you however those objects had coming. Nonetheless, if a game gonna let me jump, tuck and roll into a slide everywhere, then I'm damn well gonna be jumping, tuck-roll slliding everywhere god damnit. Walking is a mug's game

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I have a feeling I will never replay Spiritfarer because it was grindy and not very good.
I have a feeling that Drathnoxis is full of shit and should take an enema.

I'll admit there were a few touching moments to the story, but the gameplay on the whole was just uninteresting busywork that even became redundant toward the end of the game. I had so much food and materials by the end that it was just a matter of waiting for enough time to pass for people to decide that they were ready to die, and it was just boring.

I will accept that more then your previous and incorrect statement.

I ended up summoning Mimic Tear. Honestly it felt a little bit like lowering the game's difficulty for the fight but whatever. She brought in her bullshit, I brought mine, fair is fair. I still had to get her patterns down and fight her a bunch of times before I beat her. I'll go back to playing the rest of the game normally until another boss tests my patience.

Just be glad you’re playing after they patched in Torrent for the final boss, and imagine having to beat it without that lovable goat horse.

Torrent is goated in more ways than one.
While I have you here: I'm about to face the boss of Farum Azula. Anything I should do in Leyndell or elsewhere before whatever happens, happens? I got the Bolt of Gransax and the Sanctified Whetblade from Leyndell.

You should be good then, and as long as you make a cloud save after defeating the final boss but before interacting with anything, you’ll be able to save scum the endings in one playthrough. One of the endings requires some extra steps and locks you out of the others, but if you have Miquella’s Needle you can reverse the effect by using it in the dragon Placidusax’s arena.

It’s nice to check the endings off first and then just do some cleanup for whatever else is left. Like past games you have to go to the hub and it’ll ask you if you want to continue to a new game cycle, so there’s no risk of spoiling the current one.

Very long story short, I got Halo Master Chief Collection for the Xbox around 2013 using an email address and account that doesn't exist anymore. I bought the thing again for only $10 and it looks like they've polished it a 2nd time (1st around 2017). Says it is optimized for the Series X. Graphics look better, some changes. May be able to start at any level I like, at least in CE though previous progress is gone. Interesting development and a great deal for anyone that hasn't played this stuff before. 6 game package for only $10 on sale.

Still making progress in Nine Sols. I've picked up a few new abilities, beaten one other major boss, and did a pretty significant sidequest. Since that arc appears to be stalled out for the time being, it's back to looking for the big bads again.

The Unbounded Counter is kinda interesting, in that it reminds me a little of Sekiro's Mikiri Counter: it's a way to 'break the rules' a little bit. I haven't really gotten the hang of using it properly in battle, so far I can only really do it to break open doors that need it, but I like the idea a lot. Well, I guess I just need to practice using it more until I can get it down. I will say that I'm not a huge fan of how Yi unlocks all his options by getting drawn into an oneiric world and being inspired by a ghost, as much as it fits the Taoist theming; the more "traditional" Metroidvania upgrades being found as objects around the world feels more organic even if it's technically just as artificial in a pure game design view. But that's a nitpick, if I'm completely honest.

I am still enjoying the game a lot, though I don't know yet if I'd rank it on the same level as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice or the first Hollow Knight, and I didn't play enough of Silksong to make a fair judgment between it and Nine Sols. Well, I guess after 9S gets finished I'll go back and clean up Silksong at last.

Three down, six to go.

I've been playing Planet Crafter, which is one of those Survival (but not really) Crafting games.

You're dropped on a barren planet, with the vaguest instructions to terraform the place, and off you go.

Its a cute premise, but its just A) very, very slow, and B) not particularly rewarding.

Sure, its cool to see the first puddles form, and slowly turn into lakes, or see the first few patches of green moss appear in the otherwise red wasteland, but none of this has any real tangible impact on how you play the game.

At this point I am kind of begging for something to happen, but I don't think it will.

I think I would have preferred something like Satisfactory, to at least eliminate some of the busywork.

Say what you will, but even at launch at full price in 2014, MCC was a fucking glorious steal. I'd owned and played all the included games to DEATH in the years prior, but my buddy had never touched a Halo in his life at the time. We bought it together, and you'd have thought I'd never played a Halo either for all the fun I had going through those campaigns again with him. I was already high on 343 (post Bungie) after Halo 4 (yes, I'm the guy who loves that game,) but the MCC turned my "like" into "love" for them. I felt confidently that people who understood the assignment had taken the reins of the Halo franchise and would never let me down...

... then Halo 5 happened. I've not touched a Halo since. My gf's son, a 21-year-old who wasn't there for Halo in its prime (he didn't discover Halo until Halo 4 was already in discount bins,) keeps defending Halo 5 and keeps trying to convince me to play Halo Infinite, but I really can't be arsed. He grew up with the bullshit in these games now, so doesn't know it was SO MUCH better back in the day. I know I sound like a grumpy old man, but no; it's an objective fact that Halo has spent the past 12 years diluting itself and getting worse, and it makes me sad that the youths of today don't appreciate the stellar pedigree from which these later shit games come from.

Started playing heroes of might and magic: olden era. Its more HoMM (specifically 3) minus uplay shit, so pretty good overall. Very conservative, I've yet to encounter anything that I would call game changing (or even different really). But its good, hopefully it'll do well and they'll a sequel where they try to change the formula a bit more.

There's simultaneous turn in multiplayer, so that means its actually worthwhille to play MP.

Be sure to turn off automatical cloud back up though, wouldn't want your backed up save file to get overwritten.

My boy didn't really care for it back in the day. He was into more grounded CoD sort of things. One day I'd left the game running and he grabbed the controller, played and when I got back he said, "I was about to shoot this guy and... he flew away. Took a second and realized I'm playing Halo".

Me? I'm in for a treat. I loved 1-3 but have not played ODST, Reach nor 4.

Course, there are always distractions. Humble Bundle included Bright Memory Infinite for about $1 so, what the heck. FPS made by a guy. Allegedly 1 single guy. Campaign reported to be only 2 hours but for a buck? I'm already about 1/2 way done and at that price, I've had worse times that cost more.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the opening. Girl agent is called: her bosses want her to investigate a storm that could get much worse. Cuz bad weather typically requires top secret services look into it. She arrives at the center of the mildly poor weather and is speaking to her boss as she sees a black hole in the center of the sky and tells her boss of it. He replies flatly that he understands and I'm asking myself, "Why? Why do you understand?!??!" Then I remember it is just a game that need not have any internal logic.

Dying Light: the Mr beast got a content update with a mode, called "restored land" that looks kinda neat. Makes enemies and the game tougher but they never respawn allowing you to fully clear out and restore the map instead of the endless swarms falling out of everywhere. Only got a baby fresh file started cos haven't done the campaign much yet, but would be interested to see how it's received by other players and if it signals any changes of direction for Devs future work. As always their post launch support is impeccable and on par with CD projektred.

After feeling like I've been phoning it in a little bit these past few bosses with summons I decided to fight Godfrey 1v1 and it was one of the highlights of my playthrough even as I got DBZ'd all over the place during my winning bout. And that's enough for today. I'm not beating that high.

I wish the game would allow for rematches just so I could try solo Malenia. Like, someday. Far, far away. But right now I'm 103 hours into the game and I've been playing for a little over 5 weeks, meaning I've spent 12% of my time since April 2 playing the damn thing, never mind thinking, talking and writing about it, so I just want to get to the ending at this point. Although it's definitely going to feel bittersweet saying goodbye to this.

Playing Leon Must Die Forever. It's a really addicting mode, and I hope Capcom has a mercenaries mode next considering the bonus update has Extra Games in its menu.

Pragmata done!
No change from my initial opinion on the game, a fun experience all the way through. I think literally every boss was two attempts- the first to understand its move set, the second to defeat it. Perfect challenge level.
I stopped after the end credits. I enjoyed the gameplay but was ready to be done with it by the end. After the campaign, doing my best to explore the areas as I can while going through the campaign, and completing two of the challenge rooms and a handful of the extra "training" missions, I felt I got what I was gonna get out of the game. Which is kind of the perfect amount of game.

Next up will be Mixtape, the hot new critical darling narrative heavy game where you play as a teenager from the 1990s. I'm just a few years older than for this to hit peak nostalgia but I get the vibe and remember the time well enough and most importantly the music.
