Google says it's either kill them with a Divine weapon or kill whatever necromancer keeps resurrecting them from a million postcodes away.
First time i played DS1, I didn't figure out either method on my first trek through the Catacombs. What I did instead was painstakingly lure them to the edge of cliffs and kick them off (which did work, they didn't reform at the bottom of the ravine).

I find it interesting that Jak and Daxter zooms and pulls the rotational camera out with right stick up/down. It doesn't need an orbital camera that will just have to be auto-leveled all the time.

Level design, flow and music are a clear decline from previous gen PlayStation platformers Spyro and Ape Escape, though. More restrictive, narrow. Parts of the game are also more assisted than the early platformers, like swinging on beams. Also don't like Naughty Dog's cartoons that much. Felt the same about the character Crash. No, he was worse. Rather than indifference, I disliked him.

Final thoughts? Fancy a run at the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC?
I'm sure it's worth it but I'd feel a bit silly buying a game for $38.99 and then paying $39.99 for the DLC. Maybe in the future. I'm feeling a bit burnt out at the moment.

So far I've played/beaten Demon's Souls, Dark Souls: Remastered, Bloodborne and Elden Ring. And of the four ER is definitely the easiest to beat or Platinum. Demon's Souls and to a lesser degree Dark Souls have some insanely arcane ways of screwing you over before you realize it or can do anything about it, and Bloodborne has the faster and more aggressive combat and enemies. ER on the other hand is remarkably lax about letting you go wherever and play however. The game tantalizes you and rewards you for skipping the critical path, and I get the impression it's easy to 'overlevel' by sheer virtue of exploring and engaging with everything the game has to offer without ever feeling the need to grind it out. It's also very easy to land on a broken build if you're sensible about medium rolling, tanking hits and damage output. I never really felt the need to move away from Bloodhound Fang + Brass Shield + Radahn's armor set + that ridiculous prisoner helmet, or even shuffle around the talismans that boosted stamina, defense and equip load except for certain fights.

Having said that: the game is awesome start to finish. I was up in the high 70/80/90 hour mark and still marveling at the sheer wealth and scope of content there was to explore and discover. I think these games excel at piquing and rewarding players' curiosity and in that sense the game delivered grandly. It also marks the rare feat where a game series goes the way of the open world and it manages to feel like an upgrade rather than a novelty. And it was extremely gratifying to traverse it too. There're tons of checkpoints enabling fast travel from the word go, and Torrent is probably the most versatile steed I've ever controlled.

Oh and apparently I spent the whole game playing with a 5% health debuff without realizing it. Thanks for nothing Fia.

Beat Shadow Man, pretty cool, doesn't feel its age as much as other older games like Soul Reaver, mainly because Nightdive is damn good at quality of life. Plot is decent and the ending is ok, but just a short but good speech.

Started playing Clair Obscura: Expedition 33. Story starts out interesting, but vague with too much jargon. Combat is pretty fun, but I feel like it will be easy with the dodge and parrys being pretty easy to time right now. Looks damn good, great art design so far and good character writing. Right now its no Persona 5, but its pretty good.

Started this 'cthulu but sci fi in the nesr future' game, one of those detective narrative cinematic explorey shenans. Bit lower a price but looks and sounds and, unexpected for this subgenre, feels alright to the senses. Have thought for a while, possibly even said to someone who didn't care and wasn't listening that someone should try sci-fi Lovecraftian stories more. (Ones percolating of own trying to process contemporary mass despair and anxiety over looming superstructures we know we created yet can't ever fully comprehend or see at all, but is probably already done before )
Fankly have kinda locked myself into procuring every one of these lest the 11 ghosts of opinionated hypocrisy haunt all solitary toilets I use till the bitter endl. So am at least tad thankful it looks like effort was applied.there more tangible interactable and stuff to do beyo walk spot, listen to spot. Not sure if am supposed to be the dude on the cover or not yet.

Ultimately, just wanted to bring it up as a thing that exists after seeing people only talk of Directive 8020 by Supermassive Games/untill dawn Devs. Nothing against the game or dev in general, more a desire to feebly rebalance scales of exposure justice - a hopeless endeavour, sttubbornly rooted nonetheless

Ok the title is shit, sorry, i mean like I've had to regoogle it every single time cos as soon as vision looks away, memories of it must slip through the very quantum cracks betwixt matter itself. What is this an audition to be picked as a front for the CIA or some shit lol - am sure it's fiiiiiiine don't worry ,back to nice mode see?

Hahaha! Yeah, my observation on that tidbit was that the ONE person that shows you kindness and affection in a half dozen games built around pain and punishment actually hurts you too. It's just a hug, right? Wrong!

Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the game in the end. I'm not sure how much of a motivator achievements/trophies are to your gaming exploits, but I'd offer the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC offers the real challenge, but has no cheevos/trophies attached. Like you said, your build got you to the end of the base game, but the DLC doesn't give a shit about that. Given most players have min/maxed to the point that rune levels mean basically nothing by the time they're DLC-ready, the DLC is just punishingly harder enough that you might question all of it. Point in case, like you, I Bloodhound Fang'd it with the Fingerprint Shield for basically the whole game, and the first mini boss of the DLC made me look like I brought a knife to a gun fight. LITERALLY, he has an automatic crossbow that eats through your stamina like a firehose through rice paper. I still haven't beaten it; got through maybe 3-4 of the main main bosses, but I've not invested the time or effort in a while; it felt like a battle of attrition I'm simply not equipped for. Just sayin', if you think this was your easiest FROM platinum, you haven't felt it's teeth yet...

I started up Lies of P again. I think Shadow of the Erdtree may have permanently damaged my relationship with soulslikes. I just cannot bring myself to think of playing Elden Ring again: my foremost thoughts of revisiting are all negative. The hours-long startup process of gathering the golden seeds and physick flasks, the majority of the world being just uninteresting padding and filler, basically everything about the DLC... in comparison Lies of P with its lean, straightforward design and honestly benchmark-setting quality of life features just makes it feel like there's no point.

Devil May Cry

5 bucks on the Swtich store *shrug*
It's one of those iconic games and I've played games inspired by it, and I was looking for something to smash my Switch buttons on, so why not.
You should have gotten it on pc, its $5 for the hd collection on steam.

Best of luck, and have fun! Let me know if you need help with anything or advice! I will throw a freebie for some of the more advanced mechanics, but focus on the fun and experience most importantly. No need to force yourself.

Like @NerfedFalcon said, he might as well get the Switch Edition of DMC3:SE. At a sale or at full price on the eshop.

Wouldn’t it be more apt to compare it with Bloodborne, a game it clearly took more inspiration from (no pun)?

Mostly stylistically, because gameplay wise Lies of P is kind of an amalgam of all the Souls games, but perhaps most closely to Sekiro: the emphasis on parrying and filling a stagger bar are core to the experience, and dodging is nowhere nearly as viable as a tactic as in Bloodborne. Unlike Bloodborne, LoP does have blocking, and while there are ranged weapons they're more limited and work differently. I'm just using Elden Ring as a comparison point because it's the most recent and popular one.

The reason I got DMC on Switch is simply because I wanted to play it handheld. I wanted a game I could pop into casually when my wife is using the TV or I'm not in the living room.

Yesterday I started it up and... my god, I forgot about the fixed camera thing. Its painful. Also no tutorials lol. Plus respawning enemies every time I leave and re-enter a room?
Man, I am not feeling good about this hahah. But I'll give it another shot.

Honestly, if it doesn't work out, I'd still recommend giving DMC3 a go anyway if you can get it for cheap. There are some rooms with fixed camera angles, but a lot fewer of them and they're a lot less like an early Resident Evil game, and the other mechanics they added almost make it feel like a totally different game. Pro tip: Don't bother with 2, it's just not worth it, there is one good thing about that entire game and to save you the trouble I'm going to post it.

There it is. The entirety of the quality content in DMC2.

Just play 1 (if you can deal with the jank) and 3.

Once you know where to go, the respawning, enemy thing becomes a minor inconvenience. Basically, you don't want to double back anywhere. The respawning rate is meant for some grinding, bt you can get to most upgrades without grinding a level. Basically, you wanna finish the level as fast as possible, and don't take any hits, nor die. Getting those A or S ranks, will net you orbs faster than grinding a level.

DMC1 is a short game, so it actually helps that you're playing it on Switch right now. Though on the first play through, it'll take you anywhere between 10-15 hours. Depending on your skill level. On new game plus runs that play time, gets shorter once you memorize where everything is, and know how to handle the enemies and bosses.
