This video came across my YT feed about the very scene from The Boys that made Homelander nightmare fuel for me. Odd that the gentle music and calm explanation of his actions/feelings almost make him sympathetic.

Interest gradually waned after I learned that it's an exact adaptation. Anime always looks worse than detailed drawings, so who gives a shit? At least Akira the movie carved out its own identity in a smaller, different story that retained the most important themes. Wait, what am I saying? It's the best animated Japanese movie ever.

Ice Cube, Nia Long Reuniting For Third ‘Are We There Yet?’, ‘Are They Gone Yet?’ In Works At Skydance Sports

Ice Cube and Nia Long are reuniting for Are They Gone Yet?, which is currently in early development after being acquired by Skydance Sports, two decades after the pair starred alongside each other in Are We There Yet? (2005) and Are We Done Yet? (2007).

In the latest installment of the comedy franchise, written by Chris Hazzard and Mike Fontana, Nick faces his biggest challenge yet… grandkids.

What is with some of these celebs bringing back movies from the 2000s that were never good or mediocre at best. No one was asking for another of these.
Apparently name recognition is important in marketing, even if it's not a popular name. Or so I understand the theory to run, personally I've long suspected the movie industry utilises a lot of less than legal substances in its decision making processes.

Timothée Chalamet, Selena Gomez's voices to share screen with Illumination's newest creatures

Steve Carell may get top billing in Despicable Me, but everyone knows it’s the minions, not Gru, that are the real stars of that animated movie. Illumination, the studio behind the minions, announced its next original feature, starring the voices of Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez, this morning. But if we had to guess, it’ll be Dunk, Welly, and Shirm, three “tiny, unruly and adorable” that will actually be the breakout stars of Not Alone.

Illumination announced the movie at the Annecy Animation Festival this morning, per Variety. Not Alone will star Chalamet as Joe, an “introverted rocket mechanic who lives a quiet life alone,” while Gomez will voice Fran, a “brilliant astro-botanist who is developing the world’s first-ever plant-fueled rocket.” A plot synopsis continues: “When Joe and Fran are brought together to prepare for the inaugural launch of this revolutionary rocket, there are immediate sparks, but neither is particularly adept at romance. Life becomes more complicated when three aliens — tiny, unruly and adorable — take refuge in Joe’s home. Dunk, Welly and Shirm are on the interplanetary run from a zealous-yet-inept officer of the law named Zandro. The aliens determine that Fran’s rocket could provide their means of getting back home to safety.”

The film is already dated for April 16, 2027, and will feature the voices of Rob Brydon, Diane Morgan, and Jamie Demetriou as the aliens, which presumably means they’ll speak in at least fuller sentences than the minions. Not Alone will also star Brett Goldstein as Officer Zandro and Allison Janney and Lamorne Morris in supporting roles.

Whole bunch of DC show news. Firstly, anime version of Absolute Batman coming.

New Krypto series.

Finally, Starfire series, with Hynden Walch returning to the role.

The "superhero genre is dead" rhetoric gets shot in the face once again. With a quadruple shotgun this time. Anyone still saying this are either mindless parrots 🦜, or were never interested in the genre to begin with, and have a big 🪓 to grind.

The real singer in Josie And The Pussycats hasn't seen a residual since 2009

This is per a new story in Vulture, where Hanley admits the proper paperwork wasn’t filed with SAG when the film was made. “We just weren’t thinking about SAG contracts. I was supposed to be getting day sheets that were reported to the union, and I was supposed to be compensated with a daily union scale. None of that was a conversation. I don’t think Babyface knew he was supposed to be doing that, either,” she writes. “But I had an absolute blast.” She was on set for one day, so she has been paid what a regular extra would be paid, despite her role in the production being significantly different; she tallies her work on the film as taking about a month. But now Hanley says she’s having a near-impossible time trying to prove to SAG that she should be paid. “But what SAG wants from me now is pay stubs and documentation of time in the studio, which I don’t have,” she says. “I probably had paper airline tickets. There’s no way I can document that any of this happened, except: Watch the fucking movie, duh. That’s my voice coming out of Rachael Leigh Cook’s mouth.”

For comparison, Hanley’s contributions to 10 Things I Hate About You have earned her about $50,000 in residuals since that movie premiered. Though that movie was a more immediate hit, she says that it took the past 25 years to understand the scale of what she’s missed out on from Josie And The Pussycats. She says she will soon have to pay far more for health insurance and kick her son off her plan. “And it’s because I really didn’t understand the job I did back then,” Hanley continues. “If I can miss these things, I can’t imagine how widespread it is.”
