I dunno, I know more than a few people who've gone through the 'crappy apartment, borderline depression, no interests except weed and gaming' phase. The focus of the earlier strips on the 'seedier' side of gaming addiction was uncomfortable, sure, but something that I'm guessing quite a few people could relate to.

OT: I can see Rad going all 'Pulp Fiction' with this whole raccoon thing. "Say raccoon again! Say raccoon again, I dare you!"

I could certainly see the appeal to a niche market that could provide, sure. But agoraphobia alone is something few people really grapple with. The type of issues she was depicted with go sort of beyond anything you seem to mention. It isn't borderline depression, it's severe depression with a laundry list of conditions including schizophrenia.

People can draw their own parts out of it if they want, sure. I remember a shitty apartment in a bad neighborhood that I didn't want to leave the place for my own safety. I remember spending way too much time gaming. But comparisons generally stop there with a lack of any drug addiction or severe hallucinations. Most of us know loneliness but not complete isolation either. Heck, anyone on this message board is at least aspiring to social interaction.
