Think they'll wait a couple of hours while I walk back and forth and grind up several levels? I like being super OP in RPGs.

"Deafeat" really? It hurts to look at that... ouch ouch ouchie ouch. Brain is on fire. I'm not normally picky but it really jarred me out of the semi-immersion I normally have reading these comics.

This kind of crap is what's making Undertale so hard for me to get through. I don't care how clever and original the battle system is. I'm trying to get through this great story and every 30 seconds I trip over some non-story advancing aspie whose problem I need to solve. It's like riding a bike through endless panes of glass.

Classic JRPG nonsense. You can't take two steps without a random encounter. I hope there is at least some badass background music like in FF6.

My man. *High Fives*
If I can't get strong enough to kill off a giant mutant bee monster with a stray thought, then what is honestly the point?

-----------------

That's one thing I really like about the Tales Of series and games like it. You can see the enemies on screen, so you can go around them or dive headfirst into as many as you want. I generally don't mind random encounters when I'm walking through an area for the first time, but they really do get in the way when I'm either trying to:

A) Get on with the story, because I'm so strong now that fighting random monsters becomes a waste of time.
B) Grind, because after a while, the monster just decide to stop showing up right when I need them.

Infinitely respawning visible enemies in the overworld is the way to go.

Should have put a sound effect in the second panel. Was hard to tell what had happened until I got to the punchline.

Otherwise, good joke!

You mean a "RANDOM ENCOUNTER SCREEN CHANGE" SFX, sometimes with the accompanying visual effect Yeah, it would work - I agree, but I guess the blur is a generic indicator. It's something many of us are familiar with despite the variety. Constant interruptions are not my thing though.

ACT! DODGE! ACT! DODGE! ACT! DODGE! ACT! DODGE! ACT! DODGE! *victory*

Other than that, how dare that guy also notice the [random] battle at hand! This is in a separate plane of battle existence, sir!!

Dang it,I saw "Encounter" as a title, and
<youtube=JSUlWl27lDk>

I'm just glad that some RPGs have the sense to make ways to limit random battles. I understand some necessity in them, but sometimes they can just ruin the mood.

This is totally a JRPG thing, isn't it? Because the few Western RPG's I played have the presence of mind to not plop you and your team in some weird pocket dimension for a fight.

You would think the heavily armed government soldiers would scare off the local critter population, as would a massive fire but no. Those soldiers must be wearing a lot of REPEL (registered trademark)
