The deluxe extended tin-can version of Watchmen. Good for 2:30 hours of viewing pleasure.
The movie sucks balls compared to the comic
Do they sell the comic there? Probably not.
Do they sell the move there? Probably so.
Do they sell the Watchmen: the Complete Motion Comic DVD [http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/36421/watchmen-the-complete-motion-comic/]?
Touché.

I'll consider it... I never did see watchmen. Is it worth getting on Blu-Ray?

If you're not much of a book person go look at the comic book TPB (trade paperback) section. If a comic makes it to TPB it's usually good & worth reading. You could blow $100 on 10 of those easy. Plus you can sell them when you're done reading them.
I'm much more of a book person than a comic person. Good suggestion though, could get me more book for my buck. *Wince at terrible alliteration*

Discworld novels, Dream Theater, Muse, probably search for a CD of a new band, maybe some Boy Soldier books.
All Dream Theater and Muse albums deserve to be bought.

Also, the book Nineteen Eighty-Four is required, by law, to be in every person's collection.
Never heard of this "Nineteen Eighty-Four"; why is it compulsory?
I...I'm speechless. Never read 1984? I can't even compare this to anything. This is like...I don't know...if you have never played Half Life, Mario, or Street Fighter, never seen The Matrix, Aliens or Star Wars, and never listened to Stairway to Heaven, Freebird, or Bohemian Rhapsody combined. If you haven't done those 9 things, that approaches the blasphemy of never reading 1984.

I just realized I may appear biased...

::Edit:: though not as insane, Discworld is another must read. One day I picked up a few random Discworld books on a whim, and they ended up being my reading material for the next year, during which time I read every last one.
Well I've done all of those things... 1984 must be something that just got missed out somewhere along the way. I'll be sure to pick it up.
Whats the deal with "Discworld"?
I'm just harassing you. My avatar is the flag of the country featured in 1984 (At least according to the movie version made in 1984), and I am a strong proponent of the book, so I felt compelled.

Anyways, Discworld is the major series done by Terry Pratchett. There fantasy-ish, but manage a strange mix of parody, real fantasy drama, and various kinds of satire. Very comparable to Douglas Adams. In fact, I hate to do it, but I think I must say that I like Terry Pratchett better. Best thing to do is read a bit of one, whether online, or at the store, and decide from there. The first few, like Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic, arn't quite in there stride yet, Hogfather is fantastic but the goofiest of the bunch, and Maurice and his Amazing Educated Rodents as well as the 3 with Tiffany Aching are great (particularly the Tiffany Aching ones), but there a little more kid friendly. But besides that, there is a deep well of Discworld books to draw from. I strongly, strongly recommended them, so strongly I don't even know where to really begin.

Whatever you get, find a way to buy Snow Crash by Neil Stevenson. He's both a brilliant writer, and a fantastic story teller. The story is of a cyberpunk distopian future, much like (visually) Blade Runner, and (conceptually) The Matrix. It has heavy punk punk themes, and a gritty dark sense of humor. :)

It's my all time favorite book, and I'm not alone in this opinion. Many friends that I know that have read it place it in their top 10. :)
Now, I haven't read Snow Crash, but if it's anything like Gibson's works, comparing it conceptually to the Matrix seems a bit unfair :< The Matrix is a bad representation of Cyberpunk, an all right film, awesome special effects, but not very Cyberpunk.

Whilst I'm on the subject, I'd recommend picking up Neuromancer It's practically the first Cyberpunk book ever, and it's a very good read.

I was fortunate enough to receive a $100 gift card as a prize from school.
Unfortunately this has created quite a dilemma. The store in which it is valid - Borders (Sells books, movies and music for those outside of Australia) - does not sell games and therefore I actually have to make a decision on what I'm going to buy.

So if you had a $100 gift card and could only spend it on books, movies and music; what would you purchase?
i would buy books, movies, and music... but more specifically i myself going to school for programming would probably buy some books about that.

Since you havn't read Snow Crash, how can you say my comparison for a concept isn't valid? Have you somehow mastered a way to know a book without reading it? Has reading other Stevenson novels somehow granted you with an omnipotent knowledge of the contents of all his novels?

My point is, read before you question my opinion, otherwise you're just spouting ignorance.

As I said: If it's anything like the books by William Gibson (and from what I've heard about Snow Crash, it is), comparing it to the Matrix came of as a bit unfair in my eyes. I think the Matrix seems to only pull out some of the most superficial aspects of Cyberpunk, Ie. Leather trench coats, mirrorshades, and a neural jack in the back of your head.

Whereas I find the more appealing aspects of Cyberpunk are the blurring between human and machine and Cyberspace (or the "Metaverse" in Snow Crash as a virtual world of "data with depth", rather than an excuse to have extremely cool action scenes like in the Matrix.

But what you said is true, I have not read Snow Crash, I'm just going from what I've heard from others, so, no, I'm not really in a position to make that judgement and I apologize if I came of as ignorant, that was not my meaning.
