Watch Men Battle Undead in Epic Skyrim Video

Put LOTR, Braveheart and Skyrim in a blender and you get "The Great Battle of Skyrim".

What happens when you pit hundreds of skeletons against warriors in Dwarven armor? Seven minutes of awesome, as evidenced in a video blazing through the interwebs today called the "The Great Battle of Skyrim." The creator has the fitting Youtube user name of "Tyrannicon" and used a combination of mods and console commands to play puppet-master for the epic assault on the fortress of a mad magic-user.

There's not much of story behind "The Great Battle of Skyrim" but I find the lack of dialogue or setting kind of interesting in its own way. Humans decked in Dwarven armor battle skeletons and draugr, while the enemy spellcaster tosses fireballs. There's even an Bone Dragon - Dracolich, if you're nasty - thrown into the mix before an epic duel in the courtyard complete with dramatic music crescendos.

Oh, and it's raining.

"The Great Battle of Skyrim" is a fun ride and I appreciated the nods to epic movie-making. If you listen closely at around 4:14, you'll hear the famous Wilhelm Scream. The sound effect of a man screaming [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_scream] is a bit cliché as it been used in countless films and TV shows, but it first gained notoriety in the original Star Wars trilogy and Indian Jones films.

Kudos to Tyrannicon for a nifty video, a kick ass handle, and the chops to use the Wilhelm Scream not once, but twice in "The Great Battle of Skyrim".

Methinks you meant Indiana Jones as opposed to the adventurer and part-time sub-continent, Indian Jones.

If I had that many NPCs on screen at once, my game would always look like the Slow Time shout was in effect.

Was that...the Darksiders sword? What was that thing called...Chaoseater? What was that doing in there?

Also--where'd they possibly get that much dwarven metal? Did they mine all of Tamriel for it?

What is this I don't even how is that possible?

Good GOD, if I tried to do that on my computer, I'd have no computer. Perhaps the charred remains of a computer, but I would still have no computer.

Still, was I the only one who couldn't help but think "300...SKYRIM STYLE!" while watching that video?

So... if anyone wants to remake the scene from Jason & The Argonauts (aka this scene:)

That would probably be the coolest video of the year

As epic as all of this is, I'm still waiting for someone to make a Ralof vs. Hadvar duel. I mean, come on, it's a no brainer!

I'm glad Indian Jones is finally getting the recognition he deserves. I mean, he did single-handedly spawn over a billion people who have a great respect for cows... that's worth something, you know?

Damn, you must have a pretty sweet computer to pull that off. Think I'd be lucky so long as it didn't explode or something.

Yes, it was [http://darksiders.wikia.com/wiki/Chaoseater], although much smaller it seems.

OT: I wonder what kind of computing beast could handle such a tremendous amount of NPCs and explosions going on at once, mine chugs every moment I dare to ride on my horse through the countryside, although, with the recent update, the game seems to run much better than before.

That was.... Beautiful.

Edit: You know that video was amazing because of the sheer number of ellipsis in our responses.

No, seriously - how the hell did his computer not explode making this? I have a really good computer (I can play Crysis or Battlefield 3 on the highest settings without even a stutter) but even my computer would explode if I tried to have that much stuff on screen at once. The limitations on the actual game itself make that a certainty.

Awesome. Just awesome.
I want to be in a battle like that so badly I am almost willing to make a deal with the Prince of Wishes to make it happen!

What you see in that video, is likely not what the author saw in its development. I suspect what he saw was more akin to a very slow slideshow. Most like he used a video capturing program like FRAPS to compile each individual frame into a seamless stream for watching. I'm pretty damn sure he didn't play this whole sequence out in real-time like that.

As for the limitations, apart from hardware the game itself can be pushed well beyond it's limits with mods. After all, the developers only limited the games capabilities for mass consumption... if they were doing a tech demo they could have coded stuff like this themselves.

My Xbox would burst into tears and soil itself on my floor if I tried something like that. Jesus.

Pretty awesome though.
