March Mayhem 2012 Begins! Vote for Your Favorite Developers!

There can be only one!

Greetings game fans! It's time once again for The Escapist's March Mayhem, our annual event to determine your favorite developers in the gaming industry!

This year, 64 contenders composed of 2011's most loved developers will battle for supremacy in a month-long elimination tournament, with the winner being honored as your favorite game developer. Your votes will determine which developers will win their match and move on to the next round.

Not sure what March Mayhem is or how it works? Check out our handy tutorial video below!

[video=5408]

The first round of voting starts on March 8th, but starting today, you can fill out your own bracket [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tournaments/mybracket/6/] with your predictions of who will win or lose each round. Each time your prediction matches the community's votes, you'll earn points and move up the leaderboard towards fame and glory.

One grand prize winner will walk away with a top of the line Origin gaming computer, and a lucky runner-up will receive a 32 gig iPad 2! Winners will be announced on April 2nd.

Here's where you can check out the full details [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tournaments/main/6] on March Mayhem 2012, start filling out your bracket, and get info on all the developers participating in this year's elimination tournament.

Good luck!

I'm having a slight issue with the voting. When I get to the finale match up and vote it goes pale when it's loading and keeps loading but at the same time gives me the "Thank you for voting!" bit but still keeps loading. Does this mean I have to wait till later to make my final vote or not?

Anyone else having "Guerilla Games" (I think you guys are missing an "r" in there) come up in the vote page? I just get an empty box vs. Day 1.

Why did they included Zynga again? Jesus, remember what happened last year?
The year before last, actually. Last year everyone ganged up to murder Zynga in the first round.

Something I was wondering, are we only taking into account games that the developers put out in the last 12 months, or are we comparing each developers entire game catalogue?

I remember this coming up a lot last year after Mojang knocked out Nintendo, but I never saw it answered.

I went with mostly personal preference based on what they did this year. Except with Bethesda, who I just had win every round because I know this is a pointless formality. They're going to win, because Skyrim, bugs and glitches be damned. Still, some tough choices... and some, not so much. Looking forward to the actual voting.

Ah, my mistake. Feels shorter than that for some reason. Maybe I didn't do it last year.

Aw man, I really got unlucky with the groupings this year, most of my favourites are pitted against each other, if not in the very first round, then shortly afterwards.
Speaking of which, Taleworlds page for me is broken, when I vote in my bracket the box telling us about the dev is empty. I know it doesn't have much chance to win against Valve, but still...
Oh, and why are Silicon knights there? I'm not trying to disclaim your choices or anything, but it seems there are so many other more deserving devs.
Also, where's Blizzard?
I guess what I'm saying is I'd like more details on the picking process.

Damn it Bethesda, why must you take down Relic? I guess we won't be seeing 'em in the Top 4 this year. Just release Dawn of War 3 ^^.

It's called "getting old". Happens to the best of us.:)

Maybe. Last year was the Mojangheim Steamroller.
Actually it probably had to do with spending 90% of my time dealing with my IB diploma stuff and the pre-college things. Guess I didn't pay attention last year after filling out the bracket.

Terraria's Re-Logic is up against Bioware in the first round?? Nooooooooo!

I <3 Terraria so much, but I'm not certain it will win. (Even though it should!)

Wow... there are some interesting inevitable matchups. I'm betting Bioware will get the epic rematch versus Mojang that all the people were whining about last year, and there may even be a Valve versus Obsidian match. The heat is on...
