But the thing is, he wants to communicate with people in other ways. It's good that he found a friend online to help him with his parents' separation, but he also wants to talk to people he knows in real life. Online relationships are fine, but they cannot and should not replace physical relationships with people you've known your whole life, like his sister. He should start counselling (ironically, maybe online at first, because he has problems with face-to-face communication) to help him learn to communicate with people he can see.
NB: I am assuming the person from the article is male, but I don't recall seeing anything specifically saying so.
