Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Gets PC Details

Ubisoft has announced system requirements and a launch date for the PC verison of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.

It's been a bumpy birth for the PC version of Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, the latest addition to the near-future military shooter franchise. In November 2011 the game was brought back [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/114367-Ubisoft-Kills-Ghost-Recon-Future-Soldier-on-PC] to life in January 2012, although an actual release date remaining out of reach.

But no longer! The PC version of GR:FS will be out on June 15 with exclusive features like high-quality DX11 enhanced visuals with new post-process effects, high-quality assets and a whole bunch of other volumeterrifically tesselationized crappadappa, a simplified and more flexible party invitation system, an online widget that allows access to party, friends and "Ghost Feed" functionality from anywhere, fully customizable keyboard controls [being able to remap your keys is apparently now a "feature"] and more.

Here's what you'll need to take advantage of all this Future Soldiering fun:

CPU: Intel Pentium D 3.0 Ghz or AMD Athlon64 X2 4400+ 2.2Ghz
RAM: 1GB Windows XP / 2GB Windows Vista or Windows 7
Video Card: 256 MB DirectX-compliant, Shader 4.0-enabled video card
DIRECT X®: DirectX 9.0c
DVD-ROM: 4x, dual-layer drive
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compliant sound card
HDD space : 25 GB

As usual, the recommended specs are a little higher: an Intel Core2Quad Q9450 or AMD Phenom II X4 940, 2GB RAM for Windows XP or 3GB RAM for Windows Vista and 7, and a GeForce GTX 460 or AMD HD 5850. You'll also need a "temporary broadband connection" to register and activate the game, although Ubisoft makes a point of stating that after activation, no further connection is required unless you want to play online. Coming from Ubi, that's a surprisingly generous approach.

They better still give those who purchased that abomination Splinter Cell: Conviction access to the beta, or I'll be pissed

I will not buy that game simply cause Ubisoft have made it very clear that they do not want pc gamers to buy their products.

And guess who they will blame when pc version will have very poor sale?

Pirates of course.

Yeah, like I'd ever buy a ubisoft game for the PC. I'm not fucking stupid.

Unfortunately, I'm a dedicated fan of Ghost Recon so I pretty much have to get the game. There are too few good modern shooters with any kind of a focus on tactics.

I hear you. But wouldn't it make more sense to purchase now that they're no longer being dicks about it? Provided you actually wanted the game which I inferred from your comment.

Why should I support a company that clearly do not like their pc fanbase and only decided to be "nice" when there was a outrage against them?

I'm quite certain they still only see pc gamers as pirates.

Not saying you should buy the game for any other reason than you think you might like it. Just saying that if you got what you wanted - Ubisoft to stop pissing on PC gamers - then not buying expressly because Ubisoft have been dicks is sort of redundant.

Then again if you want to punish them for their recent attitudes by withholding your $60 sale then that's your prerogative. But you sort of answered your own question in your first post

Those are pretty low minimum requirements. I hope this is a sign that their stance towards PC gaming is changing. But I also hope people will stop pirating their fuckin' games. They make great games and they really don't have the reputation of being greedy. They are kinda like Rockstar Games actually. No, they are exactly like Rockstar Games, except they make more games than Rockstar. But you can tell they make quality games with love and care (there are a few exceptions). It's just that they don't share a lot of that love with us PC gamers.

I love the Ghost Recon series and I loved Splinter Cell Conviction. Looks like similar controls. Count me in on PC.

So it's basically Call of Duty, just with the ability to go invisible?

Ya'know, because that totally hasn't already been done in Crysis 1 and 2 or anything.

We were angry. They changed their behavior. We're...still angry?

That's like winning, but still hating your opponent that has given in to your demands. Man alive, you're giving them ammunition now.
