Brütal Legend Gameplay to Premiere On Spike VGAs

The sideways-hat-wearing slackjaw approach of the Brütal Legend [http://www.spike.com/event/vga] gameplay has me thinking that maybe I should pay a little more attention this year.

Actor Double Fine Production's [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0085312/] work-in-progress Brütal Legend.

Jack is a funny guy, but for fans of Tim Schafer the real attraction here is the chance to see Brütal Legend in action. Schafer's work on games like Activision [http://grimfandango.net/] has been actively blocking the studio's attempts at finding a new deal.

But none of that has dampened gamers' enthusiasm for the game, and the chance to see it in action on Spike is a big incentive to give the show a watch. Other games will make their debut on the show as well, including God of War III, Uncharted 2, Terminator Salvation, Watchmen: The End is Nigh and others, but let's be honest here: We know who our Daddy is.

The 2009 Spike Video Game Awards take place at 9 pm EST on December 14, exclusively on Spike TV [http://www.spike.com].

Activision doesn't want to drop it, it sounds like they want to make more money off of it than they would have under Shafer's original contract, so they're trying to bully him into accepting their rule.

Ugh...As much as I want to see the first footage of Brutal Legend's gameplay, I refuse to sit through the drivel that is the Spike Video Game Awards. It is like watching a horde of idiots high on Mountain Dew repeatedly slam their heads into a steel wall while a random, nonsensical soundtrack of the latest "hip and cool" songs play in the background.
