New Halo 4 Info Extracted From Retailer Site

Promotional materials for Halo 4 reveal details for multiplayer and upcoming DLC.

Several Halo 4 informational slides are now out in the wild after a Halo fan blog [http://www.littleenglishhaloblog.com/2012/06/new-halo-4-info-blowout-via-expertzone.html] extracted them from Microsoft's ExpertZone website. The slides, originally intended for retail employees, cover the upcoming game and its Spartan Ops episodic DLC planned for the weeks after Halo 4's release.

One of the slides boasts that there are ten new weapons in the game, two of which were already revealed at Microsoft's E3 press conference [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/117605-E3-Cortana-Goes-Bonkers-in-Halo-4] as the Light Rifle and the Scattershot. Two new vehicles will also appear, with popular rides returning from previous titles.

War Games, Halo 4's competitive multiplayer, will include new modes and start with ten maps until the inevitable DLC adds more. Other improvements to multiplayer include "improved accessibility and approachability," the ability to drop in and out of matches, and "improved support to create, organize, and track groups." Whether those changes mean clan support is up to speculation.

As for Spartan Ops, the weekly episodic DLC announced at E3 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/previews/9683-E3-Preview-Halo-4-Hands-On], the slides reveal that the content will be broken up into seasons. Each season will last ten weeks, and we already knew that there would be five levels in each weekly episode, bringing the total to fifty levels for a season. Although there's no word yet on how many seasons are planned, the first season will be free - presumably even without an Xbox Live Gold subscription, which nets you all the Spartan Ops DLC for free anyway.

I keep waiting for the bad news, but it hasn't come yet. I never really had much love for the way Bungie did things, but maybe I'll give Halo 4 a shot. Especially since it looks absolutely nothing like Halo 3 or Reach.

I like the sound of the changes that are being made so I hope I'll enjoy this. Though I wonder how much the other seasons of spartan ops will be.

How is this news? Another Halo game, more MP updates, no mention on how much time they'll invest in single player. Just the usual business. :(

Hopefully the other 8 "new" weapons won't be so similar to existing weapons. :p

Prometheans? So that's official confirmation that the Halo 4 baddies are Forerunners of some description. Question is, is it Didact or Offensive Bias leading them? Or is it some other brand new numpty? Didact was repeatedy shown to be something of an over reactor when violence breaks out, it would be quite nice if the bad guy was 'him'.

Y'know, previously heroic character driven by the gref of losing his lover and distinctly unimpressed with what the creatures she died for have become. Would make a better bad guy than the Gravemind was, at least one with more room for some development. Not that this will have character development.

Makes me sad, because Halo was always something a bit different to popular FPS titles like CoD, and now it seems like the two games have merged and created Halo4. I'll probably buy this game nonetheless, but I wish it was more Halo gameplay and less CoD gameplay, because I'm sick of CoD now.

And I'm not paying for DLC, no sir!

You do realize that they said that the first season of Spartan Ops will be free and have over 12 hours of content?

Well they said that the Ancient Evil hasn't been revealed that in their recent blog, and so if it's the Didact then they would have lied...

So maybe it's a Precursor who wants revenge and have taken over?

I do realise that, because I did in fact read the article from start to finish. And I do appreciate the free DLC thing which is what probably tipped me over the edge when deciding whether or not to buy it, I just don't want to pay for DLC anymore. Too expensive.
