Street Fighter Boss Moves to Sony

Capcom's former marketing chief Seth Killian is now a Playstation All-Star Battle Royale man.

Seth Killian - the man so deeply involved in the Street Fighter franchise that they named a boss character in Street Fighter IV after him - has found a new home at Sony. The former Capcom marketing man has become lead game designer for the external group at Sony's Santa Monica studio, and will be working on titles like All-Star Battle Royale. His first high-profile act as a Sony man will be to present Battle Royale at the Evolution Championship in Vegas this weekend.

"Fighting games are very close to my heart," Killian said in his inaugural post on the PlayStation blog, before going on to announce his attendance at EVO. He's working at the same studio that makes God of War: Ascension and The Unfinished Swan, and says that there's "nowhere else that I know where you can find that kind of diversity combined with such a deep commitment to greatness."

As the external group lead designer, Killian will be working with Queasy Games, Fun Bits Interactive and Sony's other third party affiliates, which means he'll be deeply involved not just with fighting games but also a variety of Sony's other projects. However it's Battle Royale that Killian says he has his heart set on; he wants Battle Royale to recreate that 'one more game' feeling, where "it's 3am and you have to work the next day, but you've still got the urge to play again."

Killian promises to take Battle Royale on the road for plenty of demonstrations, at EVO and elsewhere.

First Megaman greator, then Seth Killian. Hmm... It seems that Capcom is loosing their core members. I wonder what will happen next.
*meanwhile in VMK's head* Capcom goes bankrupt and is sold to Arc System works! Only Capcom bosses are fired! SF, MvC, Darkstalkers and all other Capcom fighting games with an actual storylines! heh...ha...haha...HAHAHAHAAHAHA!!!!!

P.S. What? I can dream.

Didn't the Movie industry did this with the writers guild and just kept rebooting and spitting out sequels, quality of the story be damned?

Profit over your desire to create a game to be enjoyed since not everyone in the gaming industry love their jobs just for the pay alone...

The sudden popularity of gaming over the years just brought a LOT of that "corporate thinking" (and like minded assholes) into the industry, they only see gaming as a "business model" for profit rather a entrainment medium that they used to scoff at before it didn't use to get as much attention as the movie industry and was seen as a useless pastime for children not to be taken seriously.

Maybe. But I am a dreamer. And I have hopes. Plus, It is not like it will happen. Opposite scenario is a lot more realistic, sadly.

I have hopes too, since I'm pretty pissed at what is being done to the Devil May Cry series since DMC4 sold the most of any DMC game released but decided to "reboot" it, put it under Ninja Theory with no prior experience with FAST action games and completely changed what defines the game for me, it losing its distinct Japanese feel and making "dante" a generic punk doesn't appeal to me, see for yourself how they degraded his personality and notice the negative response vs the other trailers not showing him saying much

plus the combat seems to be the same if not a little "user friendly" but I wanted more after the bar was raised higher by Bayonetta, sure it was not marketed well by Sega and had graphical issues and had a silly at times story but the combat was a sight to behold!

Marvel vs Capcom 3 have betrayed me and I refuse to buy the "ultimate" edition craftily making it look like a "reasonable" purchase

Resident Evil 5 disappointed me with the small space for equipment, hardly scary with a partner (AI or otherwise) and the painful lack of my favorite RE4 Merchant

On-Disc DLC that must be paid for to unlock

Capcom have turned to the darkside over the years even when it was doing fine business wise. they even had the gall to see if they can CHARGE gamers to play demos! I couldn't believe how far they've fallen.

Seth Killian's move to Sony is a pleasant surprise and Playstation All-Star Battle Royale will mostly benefit a deeper fighting system than the flashy super-move, main a broken character ring-out from Nintendo's brawl series (Sakurai's plan for the series is to lessen the competitive view for it, a fight game without COMPETITION? WTF!)

Well, either Capcom changes their ways/bosses, or they'll loose their even most loyal customers and will be torn into pieces, which will be bought by other companies. No other option.
P.S. I understand you. I didn't buy SFxT for the sole reason of disk-locked content. I really, REALLY liked the idea, gameplay and the way Tekken characters were adjusted to SF universe, but I am not buying incomplete game.
