I bought the game on steam a few weeks ago as well, and I was actually looking for a bit of modern Galactic Civilization 2 replacement.Tanis said:I've played a bit, and while it IS kind of nice...
Well, it's STILL no Galactic Civilizations 2.
I loved GSB, I'm ok with the battles playing out in a similar fashion.Shjade said:So it sounds like it's a pretty in-depth game in most areas, then combat is basically Gratuitous Space Battles-esque with a couple of mid-battle commands?
Hm. I dunno, GSB battles were painful to watch. :|
I think Endless Space is a nice, modern but simple, 4X game.Ranorak said:I bought the game on steam a few weeks ago as well, and I was actually looking for a bit of modern Galactic Civilization 2 replacement. It was fun, but I still feel that Gal Civ 2 has more to do, overal.Tanis said:I've played a bit, and while it IS kind of nice...Well, it's STILL no Galactic Civilizations 2.
When things go according to plan, or at least look cool, I'm okay with them.Baresark said:I loved GSB, I'm ok with the battles playing out in a similar fashion.Shjade said:Hm. I dunno, GSB battles were painful to watch. :|
That is a fine point. I definitely can't disagree with you there. I know the devs are always working on this, at least for now. I'm sure this is being looked at as I think I have seen this mentioned on the SPUF.Shjade said:When things go according to plan, or at least look cool, I'm okay with them.Baresark said:I loved GSB, I'm ok with the battles playing out in a similar fashion.Shjade said:Hm. When I "lose" a battle because the simulation decides the fight has gone on long enough, despite the fact that I literally win the battle if I let it continue to run behind the "You lost" window, I am not okay with them.
Exactly.Tanis said:I've played a bit, and while it IS kind of nice...

See I actually kind of like the game for what it is. It might be an odd compliment, but it's the perfect game to play on a second monitor while catching up on Hulu or Netflix.Adam Jensen said:Exactly.
The game just doesn't have that much to offer. It has a brilliant interface, very easy to navigate and it looks really good as well. But there's just not a whole lot to it. It's way too simple for a turn-based strategy game. I got bored with it after a few days.
Huh, what was it that you found so bad about it? It seemed pretty standard straight forward to me. The only thing I found lacking was that a small number of topics/mechanics were never explained.Manthraxx said:It is a very good game, but I'm curious as to why no one mentioned the horrific tutorial.... it is probably the worst I have ever seen in my life!
it is actually simpler to just play the game and guess the functions
