New Dishonored Video Talks Tactics for the Sneaky

In Dishonored you can distract enemies, but be too cocky and a Tallboy will get you.

Bethesda's alternate history stealth/action game Dishonored [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/previews/9698-E3-Preview-Dishonored] has a new video, and it shows off some of the game's sneakier abilities. Blink allows you to travel a short distance - say, to a handy chandelier - while Dark Vision gives you a better idea of where your enemies are looking. It's all in a good cause, as you stealth your way to vengeance; but those Tallboys pack a punch, as the video demonstrates.

"The best assassins are never seen at all," the narrator claims, as it points out the various ways you can keep your skin intact while creeping around someone's mansion. The powers your main character use in the video are activated with Runes - in-game magical currency - which can be used to unlock and upgrade your abilities. Your character is Corvo Atano, a man unjustly accused of regicide who uses his newfound abilities to get revenge on those who framed him.

Though that huge knife [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/118984-Dishonored-Displays-Some-Creative-Killing] is a bit of a temptation you can defeat enemies non-lethally, not that your enemies will have any compunction about shooting your deadbeat carcass should they find you. Some of the tactics demonstrated will be familiar to veteran stealth fans, but there are some nice touches; blowing out candles to decrease light in the room, for instance.

This game is due out in October 2012, for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The game's website can be found here. [http://www.dishonored.com/]

Really really looking forward to this game. It's essentially the Thief 3 we've always wanted.

Anyone else remember that from Splinter Cell : Chaos Theory? Sure, there wasn't many instances where it was applicable, but the function was there.

This game is currently sitting pretty high on my Buy list.

Problem is, it's competing with Guild Wars 2 and Borderlands 2 atm.

I don't want to/can't buy all three, and I should probably only buy one, but...

Damn you Student Loan payments!!

Well that pretty much settles it for me, if I hear nothing terrible about this game before it comes out, it's a day one purchase.

Still don't know why this game isn't 3rd person ala Splinter cell, even in this video you can see how much things would be easier (clearer) if you could weren't stuck in 1st person. I mean, Thief kind of pulled it of, but still for a game that's so much like Batman AA and Splinter cell, it sure makes things clunky.

When on Batman AA, I think that "Dark vision" power is pretty much going to be always on like the "detective mode" in Batman was. :)

I don't think it's something that can be maintained indefinitely, probably some sort of cool down/mana cost involved.

Ok that looks awesome, unless the game becomes infamous for releasing a deadly swam of ants into your home upon playing I'm almost certainly getting it.

still looks good. if i really have the option to sneak around throughout the whole game like in deus ex hr, this might end up on my pc.
already in splinter cell 1&3 and i was able to sneak around without killing anyone (except the given targets) and that was hard and fun :)

You know... even if it did, I might just stock up on Raid beforehand. Definitely gonna be a day one purchase for me.

I believe that it would most likely be a swarm of rats.

But yeah, this game looks very fun and is one of the must haves for me this year.
