How to Survive a Far Cry 3 Tropical Island Vacation

Lawyers and money won't help you on Rook Island, but guns are an absolute must.

Sunscreen? Check. Stylish Bermuda shorts? Check. Cooler filled with the local cerveza? Check. Uzi? The answer better be "check," pal, because the islands of Far Cry 3 may be tropical but they sure ain't no paradise.

Nobody's ever going to accuse the Far Cry franchise of excess creativity, but this Far Cry 3 Survival Guide video should look awfully familiar to anyone who's played the first Far Cry. The Indiana Jones angle is new, but everything else - the driving, the hang-gliding, the crashed Japanese fighter - looks like it was lifted straight out of the original game.

The Vaas situation is interesting, though. The homicidal lunatic behind the Vaas Wahine [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/117406-Far-Cry-3-Insane-Edition-Gets-Crazy] is the brother of the sexy leader of the only friendly faction on the islands? An unexpected twist indeed!

And let's be honest: There aren't many games that do the "driving/shooting/blowing stuff up" thing better than Far Cry. Cut-and-paste though it may be, I'll be waiting in line on launch day. Hey, I know what I like.

Far Cry 3 comes out on December 4 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Am I seeing tigers hunting buffalo there? Remember how they said that predators were technically not viable for Far Cry 2? Happy they turned around on that one.

Damn, this game keeps getting more and more interesting. Actually it's the only singleplayer FPS I'm really looking forward to. I don't care much about it having plenty in common with the first Far Cry, I'm just extremely happy about the glorious jungle environment.

Such majesty! And all they had to do to achieve it was set the FOV to 10 degrees. That needs a slider, and their DRM can fuck off, before a purchase.

Does look promising though.

It's looking really nice, loving the atmosphere. But unfortunately I'll be a poor student when it comes out so it may take a while for me to get it xD

I really hope it's more Farcry 1 and less 2. The only thing 2 had going for it as I see it was the scenery. And I'm not into African grasslands.

If they've copied the generic missions over, that'll be a bit of a let down.

I hope this game gets rid of the respawning guard posts, superhuman enemies, and omniscient foes.

I also hope they add more guns and gun mods, as well as co-op or at least an NPC buddy to man the turret of you vehical.
