Grand Theft Auto V Claims Official Release Window

Pre-orders for the next Rockstar saga will begin in November.

In contrast to the annual or biennial release schedules of many popular franchises, new entries in the Grand Theft Auto series seem to come out whenever they damn well feel like it. Nearly five years since Grand Theft Auto IV graced store shelves, Rockstar has revealed it will be ready to lay the fifth numbered GTA installment at our feet in Spring 2013.

No firm date has been offered up, but at least knowing that the game is (hopefully) less than six months away should be enough to drum up some excitement. Fans who simply can't wait to throw down some cash for the upcoming title will be able to pre-order the game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 starting on November 5th. No release details were given regarding the PC version of the title.

GTA V was first revealed in October of last year in a tweet by Rockstar. Since then, an extremely slow trickle of information and game artwork has been all we've seen of the game. This is the same strategy that the company employed before the release of GTA IV, so while the release window announcement promises "a host of new information" coming next month, we expect the game will continue to be teased in nibbles rather than mouthfuls.

Really looking forward to this one. The GTA games are definitely among my favorite games ever, I expect no less from this installment.

Hell yeah! Looking forward to this! All the way!

Wonder if a Wii-U version would ever be released? Considering I might get one.
Also looking forward to it! But considering the 360 already had problems with GTA4, and GTA5 (supposedly) having a newer engine Ill assume it will be PC/PS3/360 only. The current gen games that are being ported to the Wii-U are mostly Unreal games that are far less resource intense then GTA4. But that's just me thinking aloud.

Much prefer the way they are releasing information, it's such a tease, and I don't get sick of the game before I've even played it.

Looking at you Guild Wars 2.

Also, judging by the amount of bikinis I've seen already it's going to be a really bright and colourful game this time around.

Looking at you GTA 4.

Is she the protagonist?
I'm definitely getting it if she's the protagonist.
Especially if she's really voiced by Gilbert Gottfried.

I'm guessing they'll release the PC version 6 months after the console version, as usual. I only hope it doesn't end up being a terrible port like GTAIV.

I wonder if there will be any differences in console performance. I understand RDR had a few, but visually nothing too obvious. After Skyrim (and Bayonetta a while back) I've learned devs haven't mastered doing this yet, and since I have both but would rather play on my PS3... maybe waiting would be best :\

Considering how many times GTA IV was delayed I'm expecting this to be out in 2015.
Wasn't GTA IV only delayed once? If my memory serves me correctly it went from an october 2007 release to april 2008.

Considering the disappointment that was GTA IV, I'm a little cautious about the fifth installment.

Will the go in the fun and cool style of the various GTA 3's, or will they continue the darker and edgier (and much smaller) style of GTA IV?

I want my GTA to be fun dammit!
Also, no more "Hey cousin, want to go bowling?" shit.

Oh well, won't stop me getting it, I hope it is a little more bright and colorful this time around! But I am still hoping for a Wii-U release.

Wonder how much different this will be to 4, considering it is gonna be 4X bigger.
Hope it will be going for a San Andreas or Vice City kind of style. More colors would defiantly be appreciated on my part. Its not that I didn't like GTA4, but I just didn't get the same level of enjoyment that the previous two games gave me. I also hope the PC version will be better this time. Guess we can only wait and see.

Firstly, to the WiiU comment, if a game can run on PS3, it can definitely run on the Wii U which is confirmed as at least slightly more powerful than our current 2 consoles. The question is just if Rockstar will make the effort, seeing as they are lazy with porting. On that subject, rockstar, if I DONT GET MY PC RELEASE AROUND THE SAME TIME AS THE CONSOLE RELEASE, I WILL HAUNT YOUR DREAMS(twitter timeline) UNTIL YOU RELEASE IT, like I did with la noire.

Support the cause, right now I'm alone. twitter hashtag #GTAV4PC

It's gonna be released in May. Mark my words!

Okay, So Red Dead was released in May. Max Payne was released in May. If I'm not mistaken, when Undead nightmare came out, it came out during May (But don't quote me on that).

Rockstar has a thing for May. I know it says Spring release but games do get pushed back.
Right, Bioshock?

I'd say something along these lines:
Officially planned release: March 2013.
Actually planned release: 05-05-2013

That way there isn't much "delay", and they get to pull a nice V-V-thingy ... Or something.

Oh dear. Here's to hoping they don't make another terrible port like GTA IV. That thing was unplayable on a midrange PC.
