Desert Bus Begins Tonight on a Road Paved With Loot

Desert Bus for Hope is kicking off its sixth year with more virtual driving, celebrity call-ins, and amazing auctions than you can shake a stick at.

The action begins 9pm Pacific time Friday, November 16th, and will go on for hours, days, even weeks, depending on the donations. For the more detail oriented, you can check out how the driving time correlates to the donation amount at the here [http://desertbus.org/about/].

Last year, Desert Bus for Hope raised over $380,000 for Child's Play charity, which makes for some pretty big shoes to fill this year. Since its inception, Desert Bus has raised over $825,000, which puts them on track for breaking the $1 million mark this year!

In addition to all the auctions and live giveaways, for every Ultimate Comics

Don't forget to peruse the full list of auctions to get your fill of the best concentration of nerdgasam-inducing window shopping here [http://desertbus.org/silent-auctions/]. To participate in the Desert Bus live auctions, you will need to sign up as a donor first, which you can do right here. Overwhelmed and don't know where to start? My personal favorites include the <link=http://desertbus.org/silent-auction/164>Duct Tape Deck Box w/ Unstoppable Tiny Myr Army Tokens, <link=http://desertbus.org/silent-auction/86> Ferdinand the Wee Chocobo and <link=http://desertbus.org/silent-auction/63>the Limbo inspired painting "Substructure." While you're at it, don't miss out on The Escapist's <link=http://desertbus.org/giveaway/270>"So You Want To Be a Games Journalist" bundle, which includes a Duke Nukem's Balls of Steel, a satin silver PS3 dual shock controller, and exclusive reviewer kits.

Can't wait! Unfortunately it doesn't kick off until it's 5am here in the UK so I shall be sleeping when it begins :(

Desert bus is incredible. If you enjoy the Loading Ready Run videos even a little bit, you will love it. It will steal massive portions of your holiday week. ENJOY!

I'm in the same boat bus here. But chances are the start will be recorded and put on youtube at some point by someone. I sure hope so anyway. Damn time zones

Yeah, I'll be sleeping as well when it starts but I do really want to see the beginning. Maybe I'll do the unthinkable and actually wake up early on a weekend.

I've been watching it for the first time too. The mayonnaise incident was hilarious.
Shame I can't join the chat though, it breaks my browser (Firefox) when I try join it due to the sheer number of posts and people.

I can recommend the chatzilla add-on to Firefox. It works fine.

There is a typo on the "So you want to be game's journalist" description, it reads "Duke Dukem's Balls of Steel".

I don't know this Duke Dukem fellow but he sounds a lot more refined than that Duke Nukem.

If the site chat is not working for you (it surely doesn't work for me), you can connect to the chat server using any IRC program or browser addon (like the chatzilla already mentioned). The server is irc.desertbus.org with port 6667 (standard port for IRC servers). Just pick a nickname and connect, and you're in chat.
