Return to Vice City With 10th Anniversary Trailer

The last-gen classic Grand Theft Auto: Vice City makes its way to iOS and Android next week.

Man, remember the 1980s? Well, okay, I really don't because that's when I was born, but I do remember Grand Theft Auto: Vice City's take on the decade. The setting, clothes, and soundtrack full of 80s hits--oh yeah, and the whole stealing cars thing--made Vice City a huge hit when it launched in 2002. Ten years later, it's coming back in handheld and tablet form, and Rockstar Games has a new trailer to celebrate.

The anniversary trailer features a lot of familiar gameplay moments, as well as the series' trademark vehicles and weapons. If the video has you jonesing for an 80s-style GTA fix, you don't have long to wait; Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will be out for iOS and Android devices on December 6.

This trailer makes me pretty nostalgic--those cars! The Hawaiian shirts! The blocky hands of last-gen games! It's hard to believe Vice City is ten years old, and even harder to believe that the groundbreaking game I used to play on my brand-new PS2 can now be played on my phone.

I wish my phone could support it; its not even that old.
$5 is a good price to have all of Vice City on your phone.

You know, i tried to install the physical copy i had of Vice City on Windows 7 and such.
But while it runs alright,it's a little buggy, probably due to incompabilities with hardware or software, i dunno.
But thing is, i love GTA Vice City on the PC. If i ever get bored of the vanilla game, i have quite a lot of Trainers and Mods...I don't get that kind of freedome on a phone.

Oh god, the soundtrack! The memories! Oh to be young again...

And actually if it has been 10 years I WAS young when this came out/I was playing it. God, I wouldn't let my 11-year-old cousin play GTA IV yet there I was playing this at 11. Wow, what a hypocrite.

I played this when I was 12!?

No regrets.

Might give my Steam version another whirl, try and get past that RC helicopter mission.

You know what has a ten-year anniversary next year?

Knights of the Old Republic.

Come on, LucasArts, you can do it. KOTOR on the go, man! Just...please....take...my...money...

OT: This look badass. Definitely going to give this one a whirl. Just hope the descent from console to mobile phones doesn't make the controls EVEN MORE awkward...

On the other hand, now it has even worse controls than the console version!
Thank you! I'd love to have it on my iPad but playing games like that there is horrible. They just interfere with the...screen! And yeah, you can buy a controller but...I don't know. it's just not the same. I'd prefer a PSP, if I had to play it on the go.

I know right? I couldn't have been more than 13 years old when my cousins of the same age brought their copy over.(which was in itself amazing because their family is hardcore christian so getting their mom to buy that game must have been a negotiating/bullshitting feat for the ages) Now I preach the "Stupid parents buying their kids M rated games" mantra and have to chuckle because I know I'm guilty of tricking my mom into getting me a copy of Vice City not long after that.

And what harm I say. We all turned out as well-rounded, not at all apathetic and jadded human beings. Violet games for all! Wait...

I think it may have been easier to trick them back in our day, whatever little awareness there is of games to the lay-person now, there was even less 10 years ago.
