Arma III Hit With Delay, Now Slated For 2013

An unexpectedly crazy year has caught up with developer Bohemia Interactive.

It's been a wild year for developer Bohemia Interactive. First, zombie survival mod DayZ made its Arma II title one of the most popular purchases around. Then, two of its employees were detained in Greece on a spying charge [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/119532-Greece-Busts-Game-Dev-Spies] which remains unresolved. And now, it's highly-anticipated release of Arma III has been pushed back from its 2012 launch window to 2013.

The company worded the delay announcement delicately, noting "The additional development time enables the project to reach its full potential, with the studio expecting to finalise their release plans in the new year."

In regards to his jailed colleagues, Arma III Project Lead, Daniel Musil is understandably confused given the events that have transpired thus far. "We're still trying to make sense of the situation and hope that our colleagues will be released soon," he explains. "Although their plight has certainly affected us on a personal level, we continue working on the tasks identified as key to the release of Arma III."

The developer remains committed to progressing on the Arma III project despite the unexpected events of the year, but as far as delays go, this one is more than understandable.

a little disappointed but hey whatever it takes to make a good product, and they definitely have the cash to take their time now, with day z making their 3 year old game that had a fairly mediocre launch into such a huge hit.

they are still waiting for the data...

no. lets be serious.

i am afraid that with all the extra time they have to take to develop arma III, we will see another fun but almost unplayable buggy game.
As someone who has bought and played every one of their games from OFP to VBS1, ArmA 1, ArmA 2 and Operation Arrowhead, having bugs on release is apart of the course. However, unlike Ubisoft or EA, BIS supports the game after release :)

However with the delay it could indicate that they want to make sure its as bug free as they can make it

like Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising with its patched crash to desktop?
Dragon Rising was made by Codemasters not Bohemia. Bohemia only made the original OFP.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising and Red River were made by codemasters to compete with ArmA 1 and 2.

When BIS and Codemasters went their seperate ways after OFP 1 CM kept the name/IP and BIS had the game engine and talent.
