Valve Will Find Out Who's Naughty or Nice

So what's in these Team Fortress 2 boxes? You'll need a special key to get in.

Team Fortress 2 players know that their favorite shooter usually pulls a trick out of its sack this time of year, and now we're being teased with special boxes, one Naughty, one Nice. They're dropping as I type this, but nobody knows what's in them ... yet.

Alert Reddit users [http://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/14tjuj/tf2_update_for_121312/] were the first to spot the seasonal drops. They command a good sale price, but until users get the special key - again, either naughty or nice - they won't be able to open either box.

Unless Gabe Newell has a magic snowball [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jQy_ppY2bI] he hasn't told anyone about, odds are the crate drops don't actually correspond to the player's naughtiness or niceness rating. But if you really want to know what's inside, you'll just have to wait.

There are special crates for pretty much every season.
Last year, they had festive weapons and I think some misc items/hats as well. A few of my friends have the crates. I haven't found any yet, despite playing a good bit this week.

They had naughty and nice crates last year as well, I'm not one to post how is this news, but when they have run the same event before in previous years, what makes this christmas event so special as to get it's own news story and not other events?

The Nice and Naughty crates were around last year. The Naughties had festive weapons (9 stock weapons with festive lights on them) which randomly came in normal or strange quality. The Nice had all the new weapons and hats released for that update, which after the update you could get from the drop system.

As it will probable be the same system as it was last year (the Naughty even has the description that some of the weapons could be strange while the nice does not, corresponding with last year) The Naughty crates will be the more worthwhile crates for the season.

I'm somewhat surprised there is a story about this year's nice and naughty crates being released and not one about the real money auction house thing Valve implemented this week.

They had a story about the steam market beta here earlier this week.

Does this also apply to the console versions (The Orange Box?)

I really couldn't get into TF2 but I'd be willing to check it out again just because I've been playing Valve games as of recently and by accident (L4D2,HL2 and Portal 2).
