Iwata Promises to Fix Wii U Loading Times

Nintendo is also working on tweaking the massive update required to play online.

In a video posted to the company's Nintendo Direct video site [http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/software/s4mj/direct20121219/index.html] in Japan, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata assures gamers that several of the issues brought to light since the Wii U's launch are currently being worked on. Most notably, the long load times and delays that pop up when attempting to switch between applications, which, at present, are long enough to make yourself a nice sandwich.

Iwata also notes that the massive update required to unlock online functionality is being worked on. It's unclear whether the update itself will simply be shortened, or if the company is working on ensuring that new Wii U consoles will come with the required software pre-installed.

The video also reveals that the company is working on bulking up its supply of the Wii U Premium bundle in Japan. Iwata notes that weekly replenishments of the console are what the company is shooting for.

well we know that those weekly replenishments for the US (particularly Washington) will be 7,000 lighter for a little while.

OT: well at least they are actively working on these things instead of waiting until after there "launch window"

That's nice and all Iwata, but perhaps you should of done more to root out these issues and resolve them before releasing the console because waiting to after and having to back peddle does not look very good for your company. Just saying.

Oh, but you guys wanted to be the first one to release a next gen system, no matter how broken or underdeveloped it was! Ooooh, but you guys were first! Yay! That counts as something, right?
Oh, and you also released another version of your old gen console, the MiniWii? Nice job!

Yep, because no other console company has released a new bundle of their old console at the same time as their next-gen system.

Oh, wait...

And please, you want to talk about companies rushing a console out? Just look at Microsoft and the red-ring fiasco...
Oh, I didn't say they've been the only ones ever in the history of videogames to do that. I just said that I think they should have spent more time working on their console, making sure it was perfect and almost jaw-dropping awesome so that THIS doesn't happen.

I understand why companies want to rush out their products but that should be no excuse to have a half assed system, especially with the rising cost of them.

OT: You know what i want fixed? Hulu crashing and forcing me to actually unplug the Wii U. Hulu or Ninty, please just fix this. I like hulu, and i like watching it on my gamepad. Please fixes it, please and thanks you :3.

Oh come on, it's not as if the Wii U is exactly suffering from the same scale of launch issues that plagued the PS3 and the 360. One was launched about $300 overpriced and with barely any games, and the other had consoles breaking down at a rate of 1 in 3.

Compared to that, a bit of loading and a bloated OS download is nothing.
And a kick to the shins is comparatively better than a kick to the balls, but both still fucking hurt. Besides that doesn't negate the fact that Nintendo should've made sure the console was actually ready before releasing it.

Time to join the retardation. IT WOULD NOT BE LIKE THIS IF THEY KEPT ON USING CARTRIDGES. (Insert the biggest troll face right about here.)

Well, say what you want, at least Nintendo is trying to fix the issues. It took a while for Sony to drop the price on the PlayStation 3 to the point where it was even remotely reasonable, and I think there are still some hardware issues with the 360, though exponentially less than there were at launch (though I could be entirely wrong about that). It's only been out for a couple of weeks, so at least this is more or less timely. Yeah, it would have been better if these problems didn't exist in the first place, and they seem like they would have been pretty easy to root out and fix before launch, but I'm sure there was quite a lot going on at Nintendo leading up to the launch that led to them going unresolved.

Still not entirely sure how I feel about the Wii U, but I guess it's good to see Nintendo attempting to make it work. Hopefully they put some serious muscle into the software line as well.

How exactly do you make the claim that the WiiU has not launched overpriced for what it actually is, and with no worthwhile games?
That..is the most stable argument i Have seen so far. You said things that were actually completely right. ZombiU is good but not long. New Mario bros U is Great sure but no testamant of what the system can really do. You made an actual argument thats not just utter bullshit nonsense. Am i in the right forum?!
