Yet Another Arma Zombie Mod Shambles Forth

Sergey Titov of Hammerpoint Interactive really likes the DayZ Origins guys.

Don't be mislead by the name. DayZ Origins has no link whatsoever with Dean 'Rocket' Hall's zombie Arma mod; instead, claim its GamersPlatoon creators, it's inspired by Hall's "outstanding and powerful engine of Arma." These same creators also say they're "defiantly" looking forward to Arma III and the DayZ standalone, and that may or may not be a typo.

Hokay, you know the drill: zombies have taken over the world, demanding low cost housing and cheap gas for their cars, or something along those lines. It's up to you to survive in a world gone mad, but fear not: the rich have squirreled away most of the really good stuff in their walled sanctuary, Salvation City. If you're very good, they might let you in, so you can spend some dough on their spiffy vehicles. There's also a levelling system, plenty of buildings to explore, a day/night mode, a patient zero zombie, and so on. There's no price tag, but there is a anyone can download it [http://gamersplatoon.net/home/index.php?site=static&staticID=2] - January 25th.

Though the game is "inspired and based on modified version of DayZ", according to its creators, it has no direct link with Sergey Titov [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/121574-DayZ-Creator-I-Am-Angry-About-The-War-Z], of Hammerpoint Interactive's The War Z fame; GamersPlatoon was offering The War Z beta keys back in October 2012. "We've watched the GamersPlatoon community grow over the last few months," said Titov at the time, "and we love how they support the core PC gaming community."

Birds of a feather?

Thank you Dean Hall for delaying Dayz Standalone as now we have to deal with this kind of crap.

'Survivor made vehicles'

Really? - so it wasn't the dead, or the walking dead who made some vehicles - that's good to know. What I kinda got from this article, is just 2 greasy outfits, greasing eachother up, as if grease somehow covers up other grease - like the WarZ folk can't be all bad, because they are friends with these greasy fuckers who also want to rip off Dean Hall. It's a dangerous game to play, especially with PC gamers.

It should be boycotted IMO, it sounds like another alternative DayZ map (there are about a dozen already) - the problem with that is the DayZ maps that arent Cherno tend to be a pile of shit - horrible terrains, bad object placement, glitches, lack of some items and of course, the douchebaggery that happens when you spawn in the same stupid place every time. We don't need another DayZ map, we would like to see DayZ get to standalone. WarZ is a pathetic attempt at copying DayZ and Dead Island, this won't be any better.

In fact, I'd much rather see the GTA4 engine being modded for zombies, that could be very interesting. Arma2's engine is flawed and glitchy and laggy and god knows what else, stop trying to polish a turd.

I guess in their defence, they aren't trying to actually sell this like the War Z abomination.

Personally wish someone would hurry up and make a more fleshed out single player zombie rpg experience.

I honestly don't see the online MP style ever working for this kind of game when cheating is rampant and there's little reason to actually try and help other players.

You never know, look how the fight over DOTA broke out because of DOTA: ALLSTARS, when they went to the stand alone versions.

"Survivor made vehicles" instead of "randomly found cars"...

Looks a like a compilation mod to me... how much do you want to bet they've "forgotten" to credit the original creators of some of the addons used?

How?
It's likely that it's going to be delayed even further...
All the while giving him time to polish the shit out of it, while people will still be playing DayZ mod version all the while.

Just to contribute from the opposite part of the spectrum; get these goshdarn zombies out of mah ArmA already! Get your own room! D:<

It's been an awkward spooning for a good while now, and the quicker the DayZ stand-alone arrives, the better for everyone involved.

I miss playing ARMA without zombies. I can't ever find a normal server now.

Yes, people playing the mod....people dealing with hackers....There's nothing wrong how minecraft did it.

...Ffs, why in hell do you think that it would make the game more "polished"? They are given a budget and time, the rest is down to publishing. It's like you know nothing of gaming politics.

And here we got a gaming world equivalent of Asylum Studios.

Makes me want DayZ more though.
