Legend of Zelda Fan Video Shows Link's Dark Side

It's Link vs. Dark Link in Corridor Digital's latest video.

Over two and a half decades, The Legend of Zelda franchise has spawned a couple dozen games and a short-lived TV show, but there's never been a movie adaptation, which is probably for the best. That hasn't stopped fans from making their own live-action interpretation of Nintendo's beloved series. The latest Youtube video, made by Corridor Digital with some outside collaboration, shows what might happen if Dark Link got loose in the forest. Hint: it's violent.

There are some great details in this video that Zelda fans are sure to notice, and the costume and weapon work are excellent. As a foe who is consistently creepy and annoying to fight, Dark Link makes a cool antagonist in live-action form. The battle choreography is great, particularly when Link and his darker, more evil half go sword to sword, but it's Dark Link's badassery that really grabbed my attention. Well, until that whole "arrow to the neck" thing.

This isn't Corridor Digital's first foray into gaming-related videos; previous projects include a feature-length fan videos [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/107843-Live-Action-Minecraft-Trailer-Full-of-Cardboard-Epicness], shorts like this may be the only chance we get to see what a real live Link would be like.

I bet this made moviebob's day. After all, if you can make a good movie out of anything, I think this is proof. It's got high production values, and shows Link as the badass that we remember in his swordfights. Authentic? Hell the fuck yes. Fun? You bet your ass it's here. It even dips into the tiny little details that aren't often seen in the games, like Link's cloak, which was something that showed up in some of his earlier incarnations, like the first one in the series' creation myths. Good on you guys.

"I used to be alive like you, until I took an arrow to the neck."

In all seriousness, this video was awesome.
It's too bad this isn't a series.

Dark Link makes for an awesome archer. He'd be way overpowered in Skyrim. I think Link's more badass though. "oh, a sword is sticking out of my leg, I can use this"

Up Next: Nintendo thanks fans for their short-film tribute, and pockets the ad revenue anyway.

Just sayin'.
My thoughts exactly. :-/

Still, really good video. Something like this makes me think that a game's strength in story-telling is its lore, and a movie can use that lore for an original story.

I saw the fairy coming, always have to have a bottled fairy.
I was ready to yell at Link for not keeping one on hand; luckily for him, the old man had him covered.

Speaking of, I couldn't help but think of this quote as the old man was staring Dark Link down: ?Do not act incautiously when confronting a little bald wrinkly smiling man!?

My only complaint is that Link looks too masculine. I'd have used a flat-chested actress with male voiceover.

This girl could also cosplay Gackt effortlessly.

It's kinda a shame that Nintendo might steal the ad revenue.

Well, Super Powered Evil Sides are always cool, and this short film has made my morning better.

This was incredibly awesome.
I'm just a tad disappointed that they didn't use a fairy sound effect more reminiscent of the one in the games.
Great impression of links shouts too. Fantastic effects. Great job, everyone involved!

That was well done and it's no suprise that CorridorDigital had some involvement in it (they are like the new Freddiew now since the latter no longer focus on special effects in their videos).

I really have to say the costume design was fantastic, the camera work was also very nice, and the special effects were pretty ace considering the budget. Choreography was good up until the sword fight, which had nice moments but committed the cardinal sin of having a person using a shield pointlessly use his sword to parry, which is a nerdy pet peev of mine.
