Plants vs. Zombies 2 Delayed to "Later This Summer"

Plants vs. Zombies 2 won't be ready for its July launch after all.

Announced [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/124550-Plants-vs-Zombies-2-Its-About-Time-Coming-Next-Month] in early June, Plants vs. Zombies 2 was originally supposed to come out on July 18, exclusively for iOS devices. But now EA says that date will pass uneventfully, at least as far as plants and zombies are concerned, because the game isn't going to be ready on time.

"Plants vs. Zombies 2, originally slated for a July 18th release, will now be released later in the summer. Stay tuned for more details," EA announced by way of the official Plants vs. Zombies Twitter account. Reasons for the postponement weren't given but EA said in a follow-up tweet, "We're sorry for the delay, but want to make sure the game lives up to fans' expectations."

Unfortunately, EA also said the game isn't being held up so it can be readied for a multiplatform launch. "It will release on Apple products first!" the publisher said.

A new release date has not yet been announced.

OT: My hopes for the delay being due to a multi-platform release were dashed at the third paragraph. It's like EA knew what I was thinking and made a point of turning into sadness. Or, y'know, just good article writing by Andy. Whichever.

Still hoping I can fend zombies off my PC's lawn sooner than later.

Oh good, I was concerned about not being able to buy it on the platform I don't own. Whew!
Although this *is* an EA game now, so if they do bring it over to PC again they'll probably make it Origin exclusive. And that's what everyone who played the first PvZ wants, right?

I have enough 3rd person shooter style games thanks, i'd prefer the old plants vrs zombies style. The one thought up by the creative director at popcap before ye bought them out and fired him along with half the staff

PvZ 2 isn't a 3rd person shooter...That'll be Garden Warfare (think that's the name) you're thinking of there. I can't see myself playing that one either...

Even though it was only on IOS...and probably not going to be as good, me and my wife were waiting for this.

I have mentioned it to her like 10 times in the last 2 weeks.....that much closer to PvZ2!!! Made her happy every time.

I HATE game delays. Just make a LATE game launch date people, and then if your done early, surprise us.

Stop delaying games by months or more to "finish stuff up".

It's seriously annoying.
