This.

Unfortunately, Firstcoastnews.com is only the latest site to report a game-related "world record" without doing any research...

So long as he doesn't drop school to play it professionally (Some kid actually did this) then I say good for him.

He should get a guitar. It's what you do after you play Guitar Hero.
Being able to play Guitar Hero on expert, and having tried to learn before, I can assure you that it's two very different things. Although, being that good at Guitar hero will most likely lend you greater finger dexterity and better hand-eye co-ordination, that's about it.

I'm amazed at how much arrogance and hate there is on what is, after all, a site about video games. Jealous much?

Don't see any of /you/ in the Guiness books.

Cool?

I don't really care.

Get a real guitar and play the solo to pretty much any Metallica song 5x faster then come talk to me.

Wow, we're all getting pretty heated over this, aren't we? "Important" probably isn't the best word, but what can you say? He's 12 years old and probably doesn't know a better word. Good for him, pat on the back, etc.

This is why I stopped playing Guitar Hero. I played excessively and it just turned into excessive score-whoring. Looking back, I wasted so much time.

And why does Guinness have to include a record for every insignificant thing now? I mean, I can't see many people finding this interesting.
And, while I'm thinking about it, the world record for "most snails on face" was given to some twit off a UK magazine show last night. Guinness needs to get selective.

Holy... He does actually play some kind of REAL instrument, right? If not then I'm gonna be really annoyed for reasons I don't fully understand.
Yeah I hate that stuff so much, like get some real talent!

Although its not as bad as the people who play Halo but never actually fight off a coalition of alien invaders single handedly, and the people who play Call of Duty 4 but have never been involved in real counter-terrorism operations, they both really shit me.

EDIT:

Fuck you kid! You beat a world record and that is really worthless as it helps no one and because of that, you suck, and I can say this because obviusly playing video games is alot more productive than beating a world record ON a video game!!
Also you smell!

If you couldn't tell, that was sarcasm.
Pretty much this. Get over yourselves.

Okay. Did you not read any of my 5-6 post on in this thread?! I KNOW THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS BECAUSE I PLAY BOTH! Stop flaming me, I said that because if you like the music and the feeling, you should buy a real guitar and learn from the begining.

Fun fact: Taking up the an instrument can't get you killed, whereas going to war can.

congrats to the kid for scoring 1 million points, so on and so forth, but the sad truth to people saying that he should pick up a real guitar is that the kid will probably be lost with how to actually play one. So let him disappoint himself, one less kid to start one less band of people who can't play their instruments.
