Rambo: The Videogame: First Gameplay Trailer

The first gameplay trailer for Rambo: The Videogame promises to let you massacre small-town deputies in the sweltering jungles of Afghanistan.

Honest truth: I had completely forgotten [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/112087-New-Rambo-Game-Coming-Next-Year] about the Rambo videogame. A link to this trailer showed up in my email this morning and I thought, "Whoa, a Rambo game?" And then I had a look at it and I thought, "Well, you can grab a man by the face and drive a knife through his neck, that's pretty groovy." And that hair! You don't see that kind of 'do every day.

Reef Entertainment has look it up [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/122469-Stallone-Speaks-in-Rambo-The-Video-Game]. Jeez, you kids.

So what's the verdict? I'm a little iffy on the graphics, but shooting an NVA regular with an M60 so much that he explodes goes a long way toward balancing the scales. And you really can't overlook that business with the the guy and the knife and the neck, either. I think that for now - speaking strictly for myself, of course - I'll file this one under "maybe."

Rambo: The Videogame [http://www.rambovideogame.com/#] is "coming soon" for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Pffft, I love how they call it "Rambo: The Video Game" while completely ignoring the fact that Rambo already has a videogame:

As you can see, Rambo is less about a disturbed war vet being unable to adjust to civilian life and more about stabbing spiders and snakes in the face.

Call me cynical, but judging by that trailer I have a suspicion that this is going to be terrible.
Thats not being cynical, thats being realistic...

I know there were two guys with "the knife and the neck", and one of them looked like a Russian soldier, but the other was a Sheriff's Deputy. One of the big points of First Blood was that he never actually killed anyone; he took out all those deputies by injuring them all, but killing none. He wanted to make it clear that he could have killed them, but didn't, in the hope that they'd leave him alone.

Why, why oh why. A Rambo video game isn't a bad idea, it fits in some ways how ridiculous John Rambo is and the whole one man army thing he has going on but this looks like I made it. Graphics are not everything but when its such a mess that ammo belts don't even work you have to wonder how well the entire game is put together.

Hu... that doesn't seem right. As far as I remember Rambo actually didn't kill anyone in First Blood. The guy from the heli was an accident.
Lots of property damage though...

In the movie First Blood I suppose, and that created the canon for the following Rambo movies. But from the book First Blood was based on John Rambo totally went on a PTS induced killing spree.

The enviromental textures look fine, but for some reason the character textures look messed up. For a cinematic game, graphics are important.

I bet it won't be a very long game, unless they pad it with extra gunfights.

I really don't see many reasons for this game to exist. I love the films, but videogames already copied them so many times that they actually surpassed them.

honestly a rambo game would have worked better if they went with different story honestly a game that retells a movie is pretty pointless if I want to know the story I would just watch the movie or read the synopsis

Fair enough; I've never read the book, I've only seen the movies.

Looks amazingly.... Shit

Also as mentioned above the original story was dealing with a soldiers struggle to fit into society (albet with some great action thrown in), this looks.... Like mindless crap.

First Blood didn't really have much killing in it...except that one guy who fell out of the chopper, but he was a dick...so not sure about that Rambo slitting the policeman's throat bit.

This game could be quite good...but it's not a patch on the Arcade Cabinet one with the light gun.
