New 3DS StreetPass Games Now Available on NA Systems

The 3DS StreetPass games cost $4.99 each, or $14.99 if you buy all four of them together.

Last month, European and Japanese 3DS users were treated to a nice little surprise update to their systems, which included four new StreetPass games. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/125116-3DS-System-Update-Brings-New-StreetPass-Games] That update has now finally come to North American systems, and you can access them by first performing a system update, then going to your Mii Plaza and performing the Mii Plaza update.

The update adds four new titles: Mii Force is very similar to the original Find Mii StreetPass game, but set in space, Flower Town is kind of an Animal Crossing-style gardening and collection game, Warrior's way is a strategy game, where you use collected Miis as an army, and Monster Manor is a Luigi's Mansion-type mystery game.

The games cost $4.99 each, or $14.99 if you purchase a special bundle that contains all four games. Please note that the bundle is only available when you buy your first game, so if you buy one separately, you have to buy them all separately. You purchase the games from within the Mii Plaza itself, rather than the Nintendo eShop (although it still uses the funds from your eShop wallet).

StreetPass has been one of my most enjoyed little features of the 3DS. It helps that I live in Japan and get a pretty healthy influx of StreetPass tags, but I am privy to the pain that our American, especially rural American readers feel. If it makes you feel better, Nintendo is planning to implement "StreetPass Stations" [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/124959-Nintendos-First-Free-To-Play-Title-Will-Launch-Before-March-2014] all across America, which will allow select Wi-Fi hotspots to "store" StreetPass data and pass it along to every 3DS that comes into contact with it.

Wow. Streetpass is the least exciting feature of the 3DS, and I hate 3D. So they've been making games that use it? And they're actually charging money for these useless games? Incredible.

I enjoy streetpass but that price seems rather steep based on how little depth the existing streetpass games have.

It's just a little distraction, I don't spend more than 5 minutes at a time on it. Also, being a dedicated TF2 player I find the allure of "New Hat!" difficult to ignore.

It's just a time waster, like a mobile game. You make arbitrary progress as you collect stuff, and it's at least a tiny bit more social because you've at least passed by these people at some point. It's also interesting at cons where you're meeting 10+ new Miis every 15 minutes.

Some people enjoy it. I know I do. Back during the E3 Wii U event at those Best Buys, I loved picking up a new StreetPass every few minutes. It was fun. It's like trading cards.

Yeah. Still not seeing the appeal. From what I gather, comparing it to a Facebook or cell phone game is unfair because you don't actually do anything. You just put your 3DS in sleep mode and then walk around doing whatever so that your battery will be half dead when you sit down to play some games. Also it involves those Mii things I really don't like and won't bother making one for myself since I find them so unappealing.

Yeah, I still fail to see what's at all interesting about it. Thanks for the effort, though.

Uhh... Do you even know what these games are?
Find Mii is a really basic turn based RPG that uses Miis.
It's okay but there are some stupid rooms that instantly kill your heroes unless one of them has the right shirt (because their shirt color determines what kind of spell they can use) and each hero can only move once and they can't be used again(though they can attack up to three times per turn and more if the enemy is under a specific kind of spell, or you use potions, etc).

In puzzle swap you don't actually do anything. It's just a bunch of puzzles that give you pieces whenever you find someone. Iv'e actually completed the Metroid puzzle, and it lets you look at the artwork in 3D when completed.
Both games give you hats for your Miis, that are basically achievements.

You can spend play coins to buy more heroes/puzzle pieces instead of having to wait for more Street Passes.

I dunno about those new games, but one seems to be a puzzle game and the gardening one looks interesting too.

It's not like you just sit around and the game plays itself.

As a person who goes to anime cons, I'm probably going to have to get all four of these. You can get a streetpass every four seconds among all the cosplayers.

No. Hence why I asked. Now that you've described it for me, it sounds like the most tedious thing imaginable. Nintendo sat down and tried to think of the the most tedious thing imaginable and once they did, they patented it.

I'm removing that crap from my 3DS, if I can get rid of it. I could use that space for something else.
